It's scheme and Jimmies and Joe's. I had some self injurious behavior just now and re watched some of the game and several things stand out:
1. O line still has no idea how to block pressure. Too many times two guys on one guy and no sense of staying in your "zone" to block. Guys turn to the inside or outside with no awareness. That is on coaching and maybe these guys just don't have it!
2. The same friggin' offensive look for most of the game. If it ain't working change it up. Use a two TE set with a fullback and Rb, 1 WR. Run the ball to the friggin outside and not up the middle.
3. Huard was spot on in his comments. Hack has no "feel" for pressure and holds onto the ball way too much. You beat blitzes with short routes, screens, draws, throwing it where they ain't! I saw none of that.
3. The staff has no clue to change things on the fly. They just follow their script. Who is actually calling plays? If it's Franklin, then he needs to stop! If it's Dovovan, then he needs to get out!
4. Palmer, wow. He is not ready for this level of play. He is slow, confused, and not very athletic. Put Laurent at center, move Nelson to R tackle and Mangiro to L tackle, or play Sorrell. Changes need to be made.
5. Run, run, run the friggin ball!
So we shall see how this team responds. Perhaps this was the best thing to happen to this team, get get spanked like they did yesterday, and I mean both players and especially the coaches. Ray Blehar's post from yesterday was really a shocker to me: how few TD's this team has scored over the last year as well as today. Most games it is only 1 TD! That is pathetic and needs to be corrected ASAP. We need to go to ball control until things get straightened out. Looks like it's gonna be a long, hard season, but hopefully, it will pay off because we are such a young team.
