On3 acquires Rivals

Well my point in this regard was that: >>I have a recollection of an impression being created in the minds of many that this board could or would be going away. Tom was well aware of that impression and seemed careful not to dispel it...presumably because he had an (understandable) interest in as many people as possible leaving with him.<<

I don't see how your response refutes or contradicts what I said.

Personally, my world did not begin or end when it turned out that after H-Hour, the site here remained up and functional. I also wasn't terribly surprised. It takes a lot to surprise me in my senior years...a lot more than the disappearance of an Internet message board.
It seems like you didn't even read my response that addressed the bolded comment.... I'm just wasting my time now.

I did indeed read your response...and I said an impression was created that the board could or would be going away...Tom was aware of that impression...and seemed careful not to dispel it.

There is nothing in your response that contradicts or disproves the above statement on my part. I mean, there couldn't be because it's a simple statement of fact.

I also note that you talk about your "team," which by the way has taken a number of shots at Hotshoe. This goes to another point I made in the discussion: some people quick to jump on Hotshoe's supposed bias are happily blind on the issue of Tom's bias, which had a lot more impact.

Finally, it's my experience that a frequent tactic on the part of people losing an argument here is either: A) summarily declare they're wasting their time and run off in a huff; or B) jump into the mud to distract from the actual issues at hand. I give you credit for choosing (A) since (B) is the refuge of scumbags.

it's the edge case stuff that they go after.
I checked the 1619 project post where some of us discussed his biased "moderation." It is even worse than I thought. Here is a direct quote from the beginning of his post:

"The prize went to Nikole Hannah-Jones, of the NYT, for the 1619 Project. Her writings on the 1619 Project were exceptional. I would have been shocked if the award had gone to anybody else."

The author was so stupid and dishonest that she didn't realize that the first black people who came in 1619 were not even slaves -- they were indentured servants. Slavery started around 1670 in Virginia. Also, of course the idea that the revolutionary war was fought to preserve slavery was ridiculous and an obvious fraud on the part of the author. For some reason, Tom thought it was appropriate to spread this disinformation on the football forum instead of the current events forum.

I agree with all of that. But that wasn't the major point, to me. The major point to me was here was a guy who spent the majority of his board time enforcing his no politics policy. Then he goes and posts, perhaps, the most incendiary political post of all time and then gets mad at anyone who even respectfully disagrees. The lack of self-awareness was shocking.

So, to sum ... he posted a history/awards related post ... you guys turned it into a politically-charged nightmare, where you went completely rabid in your usual unhinged way ... he then deleted the post because the thread was now bonkers, thanks to you (and, of course, you blame it on someone else, as you guys habitually do) ... and you're mad about this?

. The lack of self-awareness was shocking.

I agree that there was a lack of self-awareness, but I also believe he was obtuse and uninformed. When informed that his position was factually wrong, he doubled down and tried to excuse the intentional factual miss statements of the author.

Personally, I always thought his factual positions were always colored by his political outlook. For that reason I didn't even bother to reply to his long-running thread on the COVID virus.
