If Sean Clifford is handed the job next season, Penn State will not move forward. Far to many wide open receivers missed. The game changed on the TD miss to the tight end at the end of the first half. For a 3 year starter, it happens far to often. The running game? 🤮

he has always had problems over throwing the ball. he has bad mechanics and ends up skying the ball. Plus really bad game awareness

We might see C. Villeux enter the portal.

What is Clifford, 24 years old going on 16? At that age it's time to move on into the real world.

Nothing has changed, KJ hamler made him look good the year they had 11 wins.

He played well when he had a running game. He can't put a team on his back and win them by running or throwing like Trace did, he needs help. His happy feet returned, many times he could have stood in the pocket and made a pass but he got spooked. He had fixed that earlier in the season. He will be a good mentor and back up next season if he gets beat out. I would have liked to seen more of Villuex

Clifford misses way too many wide open guys, but its not his fault we can't/won't run when we're at the 10. Problems seem to be systematic as well.

It doesn’t help when you spend most of your time running for your life. We can’t run the ball and teams put constant pressure on Clifford. Until we field a decent OL nothing will change. Arkansas blitzed constantly today. I didn’t see any adjustments to WR routes. We countered the blitzing by running Clifford. Miffed at what MY and Franklin…

You can say that again. Was at the game today and observed guys getting wide open all day, he doesn’t see them or he waits way too long to get it there. It was obvious to me what the issue is, it’s #14. And teams do not respect him and overload the box making it near impossible to get a running game going. We definitely need better offensive linemen but the running game isn’t going to be fixed until we’re a threat in the passing game

When it comes to the QB and the lack of a running game, the buck stops with Franklin. Not with Clifford, not the OL, not the assistant coaches.

Why should he stay? Where is his window of opportunity? Franklin is fixated on Clifford as the starter and an offensive philosophy that continues to fail miserably. The team lacks a mentality of toughness. As someone previously mentioned, "explosive plays" is not an offensive philosophy.

Couldn't agree more. "EXPLOSIVE PLAYS" is not an offensive philosophy.

Clifford is running for his life on almost every play. I’d be erratic too. This offense was bloody “offensive” this year. As bad as I’ve ever seen it in my 55 years following the Nits. The entire O coaching staff is at fault for that but they’ll all get raises. That’s the freaking problem. Zippo accountability. Stubbs is the only one who would be back at the top programs after a season like that. Corley, Limegrover, KC were chased out and so should these guys. 11-11 is unacceptable Jimmy!

The running game outside of QBs averaged 6.5/carry. That’s not on the backs.

Yes, I also believe it is time for Clifford to move on. And, I do not blame him for the loss. What the hell is this thing about every play requiring 30 seconds. We were doing well with the quick count! If PSU is to succeed we need the following: 1) PHYSICAL TOUGHNESS. 2) AN OLINE THAT CAN FLATTEN OPPONENTS 3) FANS WHO STOP DETRACTING FROM RECRUITS COMING TO PSU. So shut your damned mouths.

It's a mixed bag with SC. Agree he doesnt see the field and open receivers at times. But he scrambles and creates plays too.
More time by the OL would help a bunch. The missed passed to the TE- he threw that one off balance on one foot. Bad throw - yes. If he wasn't scrambling would he complete that pass? Probably.

Our skill players and quick position guys. are fine. The problem is up front - the lines on both sides of the ball. We need to figure that out fast and Franklin knows it. Next year is probabably another 5 loss season unless the portal transfers miracles to us. I love our kids but lets face it, when we lose its because we get beat in the trenches.

Franklin wants "big plays" and recruits and game plans for it. But he needs " hogs". Big plays will happen when our oppositioin plans for our linemen dominance. They haven't had to do for a while. (maybe one guy but that's easy)
Our DB's, LB's, WR's, RB's, TE's and QB are good. Get some MFer's on both sides up front We'll be very happy with the results.

What is wrong with letting the two freshman and CV compete for the job in the spring since they will all be there. The coaches aren’t going to play the lesser qb.

1 and 2 are a tall order from where we stand today,

With the kicker who was never your long guy. Somebody thought they were being cute running Pinegar out there.
I think that had something to do with the preceding play. Arkansas brought the house on a blitz that looked totally obvious. Clifford was called for intentional grounding and it turned out to be a 50-yd attempt instead of a 37-yd attempt for which Pinegar had been warming up for. Yeah, he's not the guy for a long FG.

And Stout? No punt longer than 45 yards for some reason, averaged less than 40 yds. Would have helped field position considerably if he had boomed a few.

Good explanation. You’re probably correct. You’d think they’d both be getting ready though.

Post game Franklin said that Pinegar was the FG kicker and that had been decided before the last game of the season. Stout “had too much on his plate.”

Another indicator of his lack of in game decision making. How many has Pinegar ever made from 50+?

It would be bettor to use next your to develop a q by with a higher ceiling.

Why not? Why waste a year hanging onto a player who can not take you where you need to go? Five years is more than enough. I remember when OSU won a championship with their 3rd string qb. Time for better player development at EVERY POSITION BUT WR AND DBs.

Great coaching, figuring that out for the last game of the year. Brilliant.

You cannot take the chance of throwing Allar out there next year. Our OL will break him before he has a chance to develop. Seriously the kid will get killed and or develop poor habits.
