Me & a buddy had a good conversation last night about the "sleaziest" coach in CFB today. To be clear. I am NOT saying the coach you "dislike" the most. I am saying "sleazy".

For example, back in the 70s & 80s that distinction may have gone to either Barry Switzer of OU or Jimmy Johnson at Miami.

Up until a few years ago, I'd say Art Briles (Baylor) would have been the hands-down winner. But his "sleaziness" ultimately led to his firing (and getting Baylor on probation).

>> My own personal vote went to Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M.

I'll go with Lane Kiffen because, well, Google is your friend. Honorable mention: Bobby Petrino if he ever gets another job.

Meyer if still coaching. I’ll go Swinney - he’s dirty and it’s a matter of time for him. His righteous attitude will be exposed as well. Hypocrite.

My ultimate sleaze list would have to contain the following...really no particular order:
-Bret Bielema (the low-class onside kicks vs PSU were the worst)
-Pete Carroll at USC
-Butch Davis
-DJ Durkin
-Les Miles
-Jimbo Fisher

Of course I won't argue anyone who mentions Meyer, Saban, Harbaugh, Swinney, etc...

Mack Brown will try his old unc crap, before the real Carolina Way was exposed, and get caught for doing something dumb unethical.

Those already on list:

Jimbo
Butch Davis
Kiffin

Randy Edsell is still at UConn. Probably deserving of being in the conversation.

I was never sure if Hugh Freeze was sleazy or a victim of it. He is at Liberty University now.

But Locksley is the one who came to mind first for me.

I just think Harbaugh has a very shallow sense of morality. The way he acts, the things he does and says, the way his teams act, how he treats his players... I think he's a real scumbag. But it's almost like he doesn't know better.

The michigan coach certainly does not appear to be a man who has a moral code, or even understands what the means.

Jim Harbaugh emotionally and socially retarded.

Harbaugh is clearly the worst of the worst. He fits in perfectly with that sleazy university.

I agree 100%. Jimbo is slime.

Ironic to see someone talking about what a scumbag someone else is (or their lack of a moral code) while throwing around “retarded”.

Prior to the 1986 Orange Bowl, Joe was asked about his comment a few years earlier when he said he "didn't want to leave college football to the Barry Switzers and Jackie Sherrills of the world." Joe recanted by saying that he couldn't have been more wrong about Barry. A couple of years later, Joe wrote a very complimentary forward to Switzer's autobiography.

As far as I know, Paterno never came close to retracting his words about Jackie Sherrill and I'm unaware of anything he may have ever said about Jimmy Johnson.

I think I recall reading that Joe and Sherrill eventually came to be ok with each other, if not fully reconciling. Could be wrong on that.

As for Johnson, I doubt there was much beyond the fact that Johnson felt that was his most frustrating loss in his career, and he was cold to all people and things PSU at least for a while after that game.

In 1987, in the spring after that game, I heard John Shaffer and Shane Conlan speak at a PSU Alumni function. Conlan told the story that on the plane to a post-season All-Star game in Hawaii, Johnson ignored him, but Jerome Brown was gracious and friendly.

Jackie and Joe didn't end on good terms. They ended on great terms. As in holding each other grand kids with smiles in pictures.

In defense of Dabo. I'll have to see him caught being a 'fraud' to believe it. There is a women in our sub-div who actually dated Dabo when she was an under-grad at Alabama. I've asked her a few times at social events if Dabo is really like we see on TV and if he is so righteous and religious. She's told me several times that the Dabo we see & hear about on TV is the same guy she dated at Alabama. She said he attended church every week, was very polite and a gentlemen, and was a very nice guy. They actually broke up, because as she says "she wanted to enjoy college life, do the parties and be more social, and that was not Dabo".

I think you missed the distinction between calling someone socially and morally retarded compared to calling someone a retard. The difference is vast and I do not find Oldshowtime's use to be offensive.

There's a reason why I have you on ignore; you're illiterate and you say stupid things.

And if you're insinuating that I'm a scumbag then you can kiss my ass.

Hard to define sleaziness - "you know it when you see it?" I submit that the only objective metric is the amount of cash handed to prized recruits, for a given period of time. Of course, we don't have that data - but we can surmise, based upon experience, that sleaze rankings 1 - 14 would be populated with all of the SEC coaches.

Urban isn't even in the top five

Not even with all the stuff at Florida and lying about the Zach Smith stuff? I mean, Kiffin may be a turd, but what major scandal has he ever been involved with outside of maybe the Reggie Bush stuff?

Joe and Sue had Jackie Sherrill and his wife as house guests at one time in 2004, so I'd guess he softened a bit in his stance over the years.

Under the radar choice - Tom Osborne. His involvement, while maybe peripheral with Johnny Rogers, he was on staff after all, was front and center with Lawrence Phillips.
Tom didn't do that just to win football games. He did that to help troubled young men who needed his guidance.
