Nominees:

- Willem Dafoe (The Florida Project)
- Woody Harrelson (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri)
- Richard Jenkins (The Shape of Water)
- Christopher Plummer (All the Money in the World)
- Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri)

I could make a strong case for each of the nominees. Harrelson gave as good a performance as I've ever seen from him. Jenkins was excellent. Plummer came in to replace Kevin Spacey after All the Money in the World had been shot, and somewhat saved the film. Dafoe rarely gives a bad performance. I saw each of the films, and really liked each of the nominated performances

Should Win: geez, that's a tough one. Any of the nominees are worthy

Will Win: Sam Rockwell

Will be a fun night on Sunday. Have to get to a couple films before then but looking forward to chatting!

are you going to put real categories like 'Best Documentary Short'?? Then I will vote....

I don't get to most of those, so I don't make posts/predictions about them.

I did see all of the nominated Best Short Film (Live Action) films last weekend, and I would hate to have to vote for one of them. They are:

- My Nephew Emmett
- DeKalb Elementary
- The Silent Child
- Watu Wote: All of us
- The Eleven O'Clock

The first four are so powerful that I don't know how to pick between them. And The Eleven O'Clock is one of the funnier, and most cleverly filmed pieces I've seen in some time.

I have made posts in past years about Best Foreign Film, but for a variety of reasons I did not get to viewings of any of this year's nominees.

Just giving out a hard time. The one nominated in the documentary short Heroin(e) was filmed here in Huntington, and unfortunately I know too many of the players.
