OSU had to stop recruiting Parsons due to recruiting violation

It's odd, but it seems like they seriously have a PR team for anything like this the last couple of years. Now there is more to this one for sure and there was smoke way before this that they had some doubts, buy why today? Who in the hell would print and publish this trash? The staff cannot comment on it so it's like they know that and half deny it later on. Forget Parsons, it's any kid that doesn't choose them and no matter the school there is some back story to it.

Timing. They reported everything prior to October, but nothing comes out about this until the day before the kid is set to sign his LOI?

I wonder, in my cynical mind, if they are letting this story out there to show guys like Smith and Oweh that Parsons would be heading to Ohio State if not for this little mishap.
He could still sign with OSU--nothing stopping him.

I saw on ESPN article that OSU suspended the recruiting guy for 1 game and banned any OSU athlete or staffer from going near the gameday set. I guess they can't suspend Herbie, but I wonder if this caused a rift? Might explain why Herbie was so desperately trying to get OSU in the CFP. Look what I did boss.

What in the heck do those tweets mean? Is he saying he wants to sign with da osu anyway?
I took them to mean that they were full of shit and that he was not going to sign with them anyway...

I've read Ohio State fans smearing Parsons for months that he's a "bad kid" and that's why they stopped recruiting him.

This is awesome, PSU fans were calling him a bad kid when they weren't leading for him, now he's magically considered a victim for his prior issues. You guys are hilarious. Reminds me of Bosa, PSU offers, once he turns you down he's one of the worst human beings on the planet, there's absolutely zero doubt if he had picked PSU it'd be the exact opposite. The cognitive dissonance here is off the charts.

Who knows, but it does reek of damage control.

Parson's father even admitted that OSU stopped recruiting him months ago after his son was critical of JT Barrett on twitter, but I'm sure he's also part of some vast conspiracy by the Buckeye's in search of "damage control."

“After the visit, you know, the next day everything seemed strange because our itinerary said we’re supposed to meet with Urban Meyer at the end of our visit. But that never happened. So when that didn’t happen, I was like, I told his mom, I said, ‘Yeah, I don’t think they want our son no more.’”

Yikes. I assume that member of the recruiting staff who let that happen has been "reassigned." And Herbie might want to start looking for a new house a little farther south or out west...Nashville will be way too close for some Buckeye fans to tolerate!!
Btw, did Urby ever hunt down that camera man who "injured" Barrett a few wks ago? I understood it was going to be a full blown investigation.

"Personally I'd take Narducci over Franklin in a heartbeat, and I think the vast majority of college football fans would agree with me.

Real Story
OSU fan here. Here is the real story.

Meyer agrees with what many on here have said about his Florida program -- he recruited too many convict-types, and lost control of the program. He was and is determined not to make the same mistake at OSU, and has passed on recruiting some great players beause of their character.

As to Micah, he is a such an outstanding athlete that OSU was kicking the tires, but OSU was pretty sure he was a pass based on character. Subsequent visits to campus confirmed. (I have never heard specifics, but OSU media types are pretty clear that he is head case.)

So OSU self reported the violation, and banned itself from recruiting a player that it did not want. Micah named his dog "Buckeye," so that is a pretty good indication of where he wanted to go. Do you really think OSU would have banned itself from recruiting such a great athlete, over such a minor violation, if OSU wanted him? The ban on recruiting him is just OSU trying to make a showing that it takes compliance seriously.

Should we call these tweets "Dumb and Dumber"?? They supposedly cover college football for a living. Shouldn't they at least have a vague conception of the recruiting rules??

Look at the picture on page 1. He has a nametag on. You can't see what it says, but I am sure it has his name on it. Plus anyone that connected with college football would at least know who a top 10 recruit is.

Self-reported NCAA violations prevent Ohio State from recruiting 5-star prospect Micah Parsons

Five-star defensive end Micah Parsons was once a favorite to land at Ohio State — that was until Ohio State agreed to stop recruiting the class of 2018 prospect because of self-reported NCAA violations that occurred during his official visit on Sept. 9.

Ohio State self-reported the violations to the NCAA on Sept. 26. The violations, which The Lantern obtained through a public-records request, were the result of improper contact that happened during the recruit’s visit to the set of ESPN’s College GameDay at The Oval prior to the Buckeyes’ game against Oklahoma.

As a result of the infractions, Ohio State agreed to no longer recruit Parsons and declared him ineligible for an unknown amount of time.

Given the colossal mess the last week or so has been for Ohio State, hard to imagine that others haven't seen thru this episode.
Recruits do talk via social media. It's almost like someone put the stink out there....odd indeed. Every school has this happen and they still have an incredible class regardless....just odd that this late kids are bailing.

"Brutus". At least he could get the name of the dog right.

HERBIE! Committing recruiting violations when he's not storming off the set when OSU doesn't get in the football playoff or revealing Penn State plays that he saw them use in practice during a telecast.

We could ratf@ck osu every day for the next decade and we still wouldn't be even with them for all the cheating, stealing, and BS we've put up with from them.

Sometimes you just sit and wonder "how much more will ohio state steal from PSU?"

It will be a long time until we are even with those scoundrels. Even if we did leak this, I wouldn't shed a tear. Eat crap in hell osu.

The excuses continue....

There are rumors that Emory jones couldn't get his ACT scores up to be accepted to Ohio State, and there are rumors woodbey is on the same boat. That's why they been given the boot.

https://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/ohio-state-football/2017/12/89508/rumors

So neither of them flipped. Just couldn't get into the academic powerhouse that is Ohio State football. Got it. Better be sure you really want to go to OSU once you show interest because if you decide otherwise they will slander you however they see fit!
