Game info:

Sunday was a battle. The boys fought back down by 8 goals to finally gain a lead with 3 minutes left in the 4th only to allow a last-second goal. That goal was tough, Cornell was subbing their FOGO off and they just happen to end up with the GB and get an uncontested break.

For the love of God, we need to fix our issues at the FO dot. Our offense didn't get the ball for the final 10 minutes of Q1 and that is what led to Cornell jumping to a 10-2 lead. Not doing a good job adjusting is the whole reason why we lost the last two years. Really it is becoming 1) not winning the draws but 2) our wing play on FOs has really not been good. It seems as though Yale, Cornell, Penn, even St. Joes all outplayed our wings. Missing GBs, not clearing well between the boxes is why we lost to Yale and Cornell - plain and simple. We fix that and we are golden in May.

Granted, not great play by Kneese but that happens and we need to find ways to stop the bleeding when we can. We missed two starters against Cornell, Cardile was a big one, but really defense played okay, especially after we finally gave them some breaks by winning some FOs. Only bad thing I saw was in the first quarter we let Cornell dodge East/West and not down the alley which lead to a couple quick goals; not really sure about the thought process there. Defense overall is playing better this year than the last couple, what's concerning is two games in a row we let up two goals in the final minute, we can't rest on our laurels when we have leads. We are building depth and experience but it takes a LONG time to do that in lax; we have a great FR and SO class with more talent (2021 #1 goalie is a 5 star top 10 prospect, two 2021 top 100 recruits on D) - so we should be in better shape in three years.

Offense looked okay; showed a lot of heart in the 2nd half which they should build off of. At times we all see how excellent this offense is, then you have possessions where we turn the ball over in the first 20 seconds of a possession. I don't know what is going on with these slow starts but we need to be in the driver's seat in these games. Get the ball to X and have Ament feed Okeefe/Malone outside. That's our bread and butter. Ament does look a little off in his game but he might just need some extra time to work out the kinks/heal from his November surgery. The whole team looks lost when we try to dodge (defense slides to double and we don't rotate or know what to do with the ball.) We desperately need this bye week to fix a lot of the kinks before we go up against #19 Lehigh on 3/21.

Our guys will have some heavy legs but should play with a chip on their shoulder. I hope we fix the issues at X today, get some better wing play, and get a lot of young kids on the field for some needed experience.
