Tomlin should be fired tho, so he couldn't have led a team with a huge amount of injuries to the playoffs..

There is absolutely no chance the steelers fire Tomlin...like ever. And I'm being serious.
He is regarded as one of the top 5 coaches in the NFL...again I'm being serious

Exactly what does Tomlin do to garner that kind of rating? I think he has a good OC and some superstars on offense. That's what put them in the playoffs, albeit barely. Don't see what Tomlin contributes other than cheerleading. Some of the draft choices have been abysmal. Unless Manning comes out rusty, we'll see how they do in Denver if they get past the first round. The Steeler secondary will likely get exposed.

Back in the late 70's or early 80's Billy "White Shoes" Johnson and the Houston Oilers, who had nothing to play for, beat someone (can't remember who) that put the Steelers in the payoffs. In appreciation, the Steelers sent every Oiler a high-end personalized leather brief case. This team should do like-wise.

I've seen 3 different Top 10 NFL coaching articles over the past year. He made the top 10 in all 3, but was never rated higher than 6th (CBS sports). I do agree the Steelers won't fire him which I find unfortunate. Regardless of any rankings, I think he underperforms.

Beat Cincy if I recall.

I've got no dog in this fight, but you cannot be serious.

I'm not saying I agree with it but I am certain there is no chance that he gets fired anytime soon. Tomlin is highly regarded in the NFL amongst both peers and players.

Also happened back in '06 when the Dolphins beat the Chargers so the Steelers could back into the playoffs and ended up winning it all. The Steeler luck continues.

I think Tomlin's worst record was 8-8 and he's won a Super Bowl. Of course, a good part of the reason for that is having a franchise QB all of his Steeler's tenure.

Don't think Pittsburgh can play Houston.. Pittsburgh is stuck in the 6 seed and Houston is stuck in 4 seed.. Pittsburgh will go to Denver, Cincy, or KC.

KC/Denver will go to Houston

Here is an article from today's PPG regarding that day. I love the part about the pay phone and listening to the game from the hotel room.

Do you guys think Pitt vs. Cincy will be the Saturday or Sunday game? I know it won't be official until after tonight's game, just curious. I'd think the NFL would rather Pittsburgh be a Saturday prime time game though, thoughts?

I selfishly hope it's Sunday. I am hosting a 12th night party on Saturday night (I know 12th night is the 6th) and I will be unhappy if I have to turn it into a Steeler party.

How many other of the top 5 coaches would go for 2 up 11 in the 4th quarter? Doesn't matter that they made it, was still an idiotic call that made absolutely no sense.

What was the risk if it failed? Honest question

Well you kick the point and the Browns need to score two tds to beat you. You miss the two and a td with a 2pt conversion and a fg tie the game. By going for two the only the thing you gain is the Browns have to make both extra pts on their two tds to beat you rather than one...the percentages certainly aren't with him there and he is has gone for stupid two pts all yr

That being said. I think Belicheck and Carroll are the best coaches in the league. You can make an argument for tomlin at three...in nine years he has 92 wins, Two SB appearnces, one SB win, four division titles, six seasons with at least 10 wins, only missed the playoffs three times. Worst season was 8-8 (twice)..all that while arguably coaching in the toughest division for most of those nine years

It was the right call, means Cleveland would need 2 TD and not a TD and FG.. They could still be playing today and Cleveland would still not find the end zone.

Exactly, who else are you going to put over Tomlin, only other guy possible is McCarthy of Green Bay. If someone says Coughlin, they should be banned.

Tomlin is easily top 5. The guy has them relevent every year even with injuries. Is he a brilliant tactician like Bellichek? No. But guys play hard for him. There aren't five you can name who are better. If he were canned he'd by hired in 10 minutes.

Once again I agree with you but Tomlin said that when they practice 2 point conversions they are successful something like 75% of the time AGAINST THEIR OWN DEFENSE.(who more or less know the patterns )
Now I know there will be jokes about the crappy Steeler defense but still that is a very high percentage. They spread you out and add Heath/Jesse James and you can't cover 5 receivers.

Check your math. You were wrong.
Dumblin runs out of fingers at ten. It was too cold to take off his shoes. He had no chance of getting the math right. Twelve would have iced the game for sure, as Cleveland would have needed a Ben pick-6 AND and act of God to score two TDs. Fortunately for Dumblin, Ben almost always gets the two. Once Ben retires (or loses his arm strength), this coach will be exposed - and things will get ugly. (though if you like defense at all, things are already ugly, because he plays #41 every week no matter how horribly he plays)
