Hey everyone, I don't often do this, but I've seen too much valuable OT info shared on this all-knowing board not to at least give it a shot.
So, I'm currently in the market for a new (used) vehicle. I'm not in an immediate rush, but I would like to get something done before Feb. 1, when the inspection on my current car runs out. Right now I drive an '05 Subaru Legacy Sedan that just eclipsed the 115,000 mi. mark. It's in decent shape still, just needs some exhaust work and routine maintenance before it goes much farther. According to KBB, I can get $3-4,000 for trade-in value and ~$1,000 more than that through a private sale. Just curious to see which you recommend or have experience with, and if you do private, what is the best route there? (Dealership, Craig'sList, etc.?) If you do trade-in, any suggestions on getting the highest return?
For the new one, ideally, I'm looking for a 1/4- or 1/2-ton truck with 50-75,000 miles on it, but I'm willing to be flexible. I've already shopped around a little bit and hope to test drive a couple this afternoon, but like I said, I'm in no rush and am trying to find the right fit.
Really, this is my first time shopping for a car personally (I bought my current car from my parents before my senior year of college). So, any input or advice you have to offer, or any dealerships near/around State College that are known to be trustworthy, I'd greatly appreciate it all. And if you'd rather, you can also email me: owen.tim.bwi@gmail.com
