Ot: akb 5 inch or 6 inch gutters

No matter what AustinNit's girlfriend says, size matters.

Go with the 6 inch and get a cover/cap for them to keep out the debris.

5 inch...6 inch...whatever it takes.

The number of torrential rainstorms (at least in the mid-Atlantic) is increasing exponentially. I'd spend the extra $500.

Worth the extra $500?

Same here in the Midwest.....have had two monster rainstorms the last two nights. Have never in my life ever seen as long or as bright a lightning display as last night. (No golf at my club until 1PM this afternoon, then walking only.....)

Other than testing once a month at 10AM, I had never heard the emergency weather sirens go off in my village until the night before last. Scary!

Mother Nature is not getting any kinder!

(For the record, when I re-roofed last summer, I went with the larger gutters.)

Use the 3x5 downspouts. Thats where the flow restriction is.
When I had my roof replaced a couple years ago I told my roofer that my gutters would overflow during heavy rain. We ended up using the same size 5" gutter but increased the size of the downspouts. Haven't had an overflow since.
