I come again to relay on the diverse expertise available on this board. My Question.....

How do I quickly (without taking an absolute hose job) sell a vehicle? I'm not using it as a trade, just selling it outright. I'd like to expedite the process and not sit waiting for a buyer to materialize.

TIA

Price it right and make it available to see........lots of free advertisement out there, use it all. The biggest issue I see is how "quickly" you need to sell. I've sold a number of vehicles, never trading any in. Start at a reasonable price and reduce it a little every 2 weeks. All you need is a bite and you must be willing to reduce the price a little to satisfy the person buying it.

The last few vehicles we sold, we went to CarMax. Pretty much a no hassle experience for us. Asked the dealer where we planned to purchase our new vehicle to give us their best trade-in price, already knowing what the trade-in price should be according to various sources based on mileage, condition, options, etc. They were always way below the price. Since we tend to take excellent care of our vehicles, we always received slightly above the so-called estimated trade-in value at CarMax. The car dealers were not even close, and one even told us we would be better off going to CarMax.

Price it right. Go online and get some price points. Take out in local newspaper! Agree above, lower price every couple of three weeks in no one is interested. Another option is Craig's List or EBay.

Get creative in showing the car. Do you know any hot women?

I'd advise making sure to post on multiple sites, including Craigslist.

The most important thing is to know your market. Meaning, if you're trying to sell a $7,000-ish car in a place like State College, you'd probably get more money in an area like Altoona or Bloomsburg. There just aren't as many people looking in that price range.....so make sure you post it anywhere and everywhere.

CraigsList CraigsList CraigsList CraigsList.

Clean the car very well and be SURE to put a tire shine on the tires. Have those puppies dripping wet like Pamela Anderson on a.....well, you get the idea. Clean the interior and make sure the floor mats are scrubbed clean. Put a shine on the dash and all hard surfaces. Take lots of good photos and put it on CraigsList. Price it according to KBB Private Party Value. If the car is immaculate with under 36,000 miles, you can call it EXCELLENT CONDITION. If it's still a VERY clean car with under 60,000 miles, you can call it VERY GOOD. Otherwise, just price it at GOOD. If you price it right and show it properly (lots of good pics that give an accurate and true representation of the vehicle's condition), you should have no problem selling it.

Good luck!

if you truely want it sold fast, just take it to any car lot, new or used, ask what they will give you for. You'll have it sold in a day or less.

Yes, and then you'll lose your ass and get 1/4 of what you would selling it on your own.
