I was looking forward to it because of the military/special operations content and the fact that Walton Goggins was featured. I must say that it was quite disappointing... specifically, the production quality (sets, special effects, costumes, military authenticity) was really bad. Maybe if I can get past this, the story line will be enough to carry the show.

Anyone else watch? What are your thoughts?

Watched it but still not sure what to make of it. Reminds me of somewhat of a rerun of the old show 'The Unit'.

I was sort of in and out of the episode but when I saw that 1 of the terrorists/ terrorist's crew was portrayed as just some good ole guy from Detroit who somehow just magically ended up with terrorists in Pakistan (? or wherever) and was in the wrong place at the wrong time- it was losing me.

Then he was shot by a Seal while surrendering (which the Seals just blew off) and his apparent brother who was next to him at that time somehow ends up at the Seal forward base years later as some USA official (??)- I was tuning out more. He then sees a captured, hung over, former Seal kidnapped by Boko Haram and recognized him as the guy who killed his brother....it just lost me more. Just seems more soap opera-ish than anything realistic. Granted it was only 1 episode. Not sold on it yet.

I did not watch it. However, given it is brought to you by the same folks brought us Pawn Stars, American Pickers, Curse of Oak Island, Ancient Aliens, Hunting Hitler and other factual gems......

I really loved Goggins in Justified and most of the other stuff he has done, he's not bad in this miniseries, but he's not enough to save it.

I don't mind if they tried to mimic The Unit. I was a huge fan of that show. The Unit did have both soap opera and action/suspense, but the soap opera didn't take away from the action/suspense (for the most part). I don't think the soap opera subplots in Six are the problem... as I said the action stuff us not well executed and the plot line isn't well developed/written. It's almost like they didn't have the right person (former SEAL) consulting on the show/advising them. It's like going back and watching an old war movie and noticing how unauthentic they looked compared to today's standards.

I wonder why they can't just get all of the producers/directors/writers that were part of The Unit and have them re brand it a little with different actors. Or at least take a different set of producers/directors/writers and tell them to do what they did on The Unit... Maybe it's a budget issue?

I actually enjoy Pawn Stars and American Pickers. They are (faux) reality shows and not high theater. I like history and it's interesting to see some old/rare items and see what they are worth. Antiques Road Show will give you the same thing, but my wife likes the (faux) reality part of it.

What's it about? Seal Team Six? Huge Goggins fan here too and didn't realize he was in a new show. His role as Boyd Crowder on Justified is one of my all time favorite characters in any medium. But, he needs good material - sounds like that's lacking here. May have to give this a shot if it gets better.

I was really looking forward to it based on the previews, and was sorely disappointed in it, for all the reasons already mentioned. The production quality was really poor and the acting was sub-par. I probably won't bother watching any longer.

Speaking of Oak Island, when do you think this punchless scam is going to end? Can't believe it's been on this long.

Yes, seal team six...

low budget, low quality, very poor writing. If they didn't have the terrible character cliché's going for them, there would be nothing. The fact that they are spreading a single or maybe 2 episode storyline (rescuing a kidnapped former group leader) over the course of however long the season ends up being is why many will fall asleep watching. I feel bad for some of the decent actors assembled - cause they have nothing to work with. Very disappointing............

Those shows can be entertaining to see some of the various antiques. However, I threw the flag when the Pickers had no clue what a hit and miss engine was. These are two guys from Iowa who have spent years digging through old barns and they didn't know anything about hit and miss engines? I suspect that they are two guys that liked to collect, and know a lot about, old motorcycles, oil cans, advertising signs and toys. Outside of that, they are fairly ignorant when it comes to antiques. I suspect that they created their antique business at the same time as they were creating their television pitch.

One note about Pawn Stars. Has anyone ever actually pawned something on the show?

Did anyone who tuned in to Six watch Strike Back? I watched Season 1, but haven't started 2 yet.. Think they are up to 4th season now.

I liked Strike Back, didn't love it. Just throwing it out as another option, and wondering if people who have seen both would recommend Six over Strike Back or vice versa.

I've got Six being DVR's, and I'm downloading it for my tablet - planing tio watch it on some transcon flights coming up in Feb/March.

I'm not familiar with Strikeback... what is the scoop?

Because you are so eclectic over here been a long time lurker. Pretty excited when I caught notice of this a week or so back. Plugged date/time in the phone and watched the first episode. Thought it was pretty bad so I won't be going back for more.

I am happy to read my thoughts are similar. I love Goggs and the topic. I was excited to watch it. Did you notice they aired it on 4 channels that they own? They have been rerunning it on multiple as well.

But I was disappointed for sure. It is ok but if it doesn't get better I won't waste my time. 6/10 is about what I would give and that is what IMDB has.

As for those speaking of facts like their reality shows, I don't believe this series is intended in that way. Simply taking a hot topic and making a drama with some good actors but not so good writing or production work. I will tune in for next one. I always give these shows a couple episodes.
