Not one to count chickens until they're camped on my doorstep, but it looks like we'll be getting our stuff back.
But not from anyone connected with Celebrity or Bags Inc. Nope. Wife received a call from -- wait for it -- the pier lost and found (Intercruises Inc). The young lady found one. Today they located the other 2, and will be FedExing them. That bill goes to either Bags or Celebrity... we know it doesn't go to us.
The lost and found has a public number and we're having a hard time figuring why someone in the process apparently never touched base with them... you'd think they'd be the first call. And it gets weirder from there...
yesterday morning we were asked by celeb (on behalf of bags) to provide a list of missing items so they could know what they were looking for when they opened the bag they (bags) claimed to have at the pier. yet it seems that at no time did anyone have that bag... the only people who had it were the lost and found and they called us directly based on the luggage tag... and said they'd had no contact with anyone prior to calling us.
and so, here's the thing that keeps swirling in my head. COST.
it did not take long in the process before we were being told the bags had been given over to usair, so usair had them and they were on the hook. But clearly, those bags never got to usair, so that gets one to thinking. Seems if it's with the airline, those bags simply get shipped at usair expense to our home. BUT, if they fall back to bags/celeb (as is happening here), the bags get FedExd at their expense to us.
Apparently, that is what is going to occur. And given these are 3 large bags of some weight being shipped from Seattle to Florida... well, that's a pretty large nugget.
... so the wife asks... when we go to on our next cruise overseas, will you consider using the service again? and smiles. and funny thing is, i would.. go figure. lol bear in mind it's a great service -- so long as you and your bags show up at the same place! anyway, here's hoping we do get the bags, that there is no cost to us, and.. oh btw, that they reimburse us for using their luggage valet service.
