OT Bald Eagle Baby update

The Eaglets have been eating like crazy.

One of them was just flapping it's wings and hopping up. Think it wants to fly.

I'm worried it will fall out of the nest. Seriously, is that the #1 cause of death of baby Eaglets?

This morning, they were able to feed themselves some fish left in the nest.
And now, mom brought back something furry...

I'm pretty amazed at how big they got in a little over a month. Man do they grow fast.

I haven't checked, but I heard the eggs in the nest near Pittsburgh didn't make it this winter.

My daughter is hooked on this! We have to 'check on the eagles' every night when she gets home from daycare. Over the weekend we were able to see both parents land and takeoff, one appeared to be removing old carcasses from the nest, then the other brought back a stick 'the mommy is going to hit the daddy with the stick'... ummm.. no she is fixing the nest. Why did the daddy break it?

She is a quick learner... apparently she thinks daddy breaks everything and mommy fixes everything... funny how reality rarely matches her imagination.

Anybody have an idea as to what animal that is in the front of the nest? All that appears to be left is the head.

Thanks for the update. I didn't check in for about a week and was amazed at how fast they grew. They are expected to stay in the nest until at least late June. It is going to get crowded!
