Will be heading to Berkeley Springs in October for a family reunion. I am looking for recommendations for restaurants near Cacapon State Park that can handle 20 people. Also, any recommendations for things to do/visit/see near by the park

Thanks in advance for the help!

Don't know about that but I do know they love to pull people over as they pass through. Good source of money for the town. So go slow!

The park is about 10 miles south of town. The most important question is whether you're having it on the weekend is October 6. 7 and 8, because that is Apple Butter Festival weekend, and traffic will shut the town down at various times

In town on the other weekends, there will be massages and other spa treatments available; as for restaurants serving 20 or more, I would recommend Angus n Ale, The County Inn, Tari's Cafe. For cocktails and excellent appetizers, go to The Naked Olive.

I tell my HS buddies that I can get you a rental canoe and a quart of shine, both from the same guy. I can get you thrown jail, and let out again, two different guys. :)

Thanks Demlion! No we are avoiding the Apple Butter Festival and will be there later in the month.

This is not completely up to date, but give you a good feel. https://www.google.com/search?ie=UT...oid-browser&q=restaurants+in+berkeley+springs

The best restaurant in town, and in the whole region, is Lot 12 Public House. The chef is almost always among the finalist for the James Beard award, SE region. Not sure about a crowd of 20, but give them a call. With advance notice, they can probably do it.
Thanks again. I will pass this info on to my wife - maybe we will go without the rest of the group!

Hey Demlion, heading to Cabins WV close to the Dolly Sods. Any recommendations on a fly fishing guide for a day?
Thanks

Talked to my daughter who used to work there, and she says there's an upstairs room for banquets like yours at Lot 12.

Btw, the restaurant is called Lot 12 because on the original survey of the town, done by Chas Washington, George's bro, the lot was #12.

I got nothing.
GARW: Just spent a long weekend in Cabins and while I didn't fish I can tell you that Smoke Hole Resort has a fly fishing guide service but it might be just for their properties. You might want to call them (800-828-8478) and see what they say. Another possibility might be Harman's Luxury Log Cabins (800-436-6254). They own a 1.75 miles stretch on the North Fork River (catch and release) that I've seen featured on TV - looks beautiful. Check those two places out - I don't know of any other leads for you.

Thanks, will definitely check it out. I enjoyed learning a little history/trivia on the place too!

The abandoned closed down truck stop is still there on Route 522. Prolly designated a Hazardous Waste Site by the EPA.

Aside from that, Berkeley Springs is a beautiful little town. Lots to do for the ladies - there are antique joints all over the place. The guys can do something fun - play golf. I have not played Cacapon myself but it has very excellent reviews.

The Springs themselves is a West Virginia state park as well so you can do the baths with the hot mineral water. I keep saying I'm going to do it the next time I'm passing through.

Rivalion, Cacapon has a decent golf course. A bit hilly but a decent course. Worth playing.

It's been 10 years, but I can say Lot 12 Public House is excellent

Cacapon is a very nice course and is indeed designed by R T Jones, Sr. Worth playing when in the area.

Lot 12 is also recommended. Demlion may be able to give you the boat ride of your life if interested.

Don't golf, never saw the logic of hitting a ball and chasing after it. Prefer to hit a ball and make others chase it! I read about Demlion's boat rides and the need to watch out for trees! (LOL)
