I am curious to hear a couple opinions on this --
I find his incident to be substantially more troubling than Ray Rice's. And that was before the information that was released today, of which there is even more than I have the patience (or stomach) to go through. But it's his general MO since, from the things he has said to the things he has done to the awful rap videos/songs he has released that make me struggle with the fact the he is still gifted with the ability and privilege to play on Sundays and makes me grateful that he is not doing so in a Steelers uniform, despite the clearly elite skill he brings to the table.
I am not a saint. I do not think that a mistake should define a person. I am a firm believer in second chances. I am lifelong dog owner and I fully believe in Mike Vick's right to have another chance. He paid his penalty, substantially so, and is seemingly a different man. I am proud to have him in Black & Yellow. But, to me, Hardy is a different story. He has not had to pay for his crime, payment which should have involved somewhat a good chunk of prison time and counseling and probation, etc. His only consequence was taking leave, paid leave at that, from the game. Time during which he thought it logical to produce the above rap video. At what point is it not ok? I mean, if there were video of his domestic incident as it is described would he ever be allowed on a field again?
There's a lot at play in this incident (which is partially why I'm curious to hear opining on it). I don't draw much from the "guns blazing" comment; it was a stupid thing to say, but he doesn't strike me as someone who is even marginally intelligent. His sideline whatever that was was whatever it was, but that's a team issue. But what how would you feel if he were on your team? How would you feel watching him play on your team - ie if your team's best defensive player had his history - with your wife and/or daughters? Is it a non-issue (until it's an issue again, if that happens)? If you are a Cowboys fan, what say you?
