OT: Covers better than the original

Was driving to work, and “Killing Me Softly”, by The Fugees came on.
IMHO, better than the original.

"Ring of Fire" -- Social Distortion
"Smooth Criminal" -- Alien Ant Farm
"Ghost of Tom Joad" -- Rage Against the Machine

Townes Van Zandt covering The Rolling Stones Dead Flowers.

Although the original is also awesome.

Anything from The Commitments. Great album. At least 5 or 6 soul tunes that are better than the originals. Of course, I'm old enough to remember the originals.

None of them wrote it, but I always remain fascinated that three superstar Motown acts released Heard it through the Grape Vine.

Useless trivia question - Marvin Gaye’s mother was told BEFORE she had a son that the child would find fortune under a grapevine.

"Nothing Compares 2 U" by Sinead O'Connor (originally by Prince)

I always post this cover, and particularly this performance, in these threads. Many years later and that performance still gives me chills, it's incredible.
Then I thank you, because I either found it here or on TeamCoco (big Conan fan.)

Not sure who did the original Dolly or Whitney, but prefer the Dolly version of I will Always Love You. Saw an interview with Dolly where she said the song was a tribute to Porter Wagoner as she was leaving his show.
Dolly wrote and sang the original, long before Whitney.
