OT: Covers better than the original

The original has REALLY dated, awful instrumentals ... it’s like a musical version of those awful greenish/yellow appliances with really busy wallpaper. The Fugees’ version is superior, though I like Flack’s vocal.

As I said, musical tastes vary. I find the Fugee’s version embarrassingly bad but it certainly worked for them and many would disagree with me. It’s basically a vocal song so I don’t get why it would be remade with an inferior voice but alas, there is a reason I’m not in the music industry.

I agree with that... the one that came to mind for me was To Make You Feel My Love that was done by Billy Joel, but the Garth Brooks version is my favorite.

There is Voodoo Chile cover by SRV , then there is Satisfaction by DEVO.
Artists would tribute a song rather than cover it, Woodstock by Joni, CSNY, and Matthew's Southern Comfort all listenable.
Disturbed doing Moon River, or Just The Way You Are, would be just disturbing.
