I went to Codorus yesterday to snap a few pictures of the Eagles. I couldn't get very close to nest and my 300mm lens was not up to the task. I'd say you need 700 - 1000 mm at least. The nest is the size of a car...I was not expecting it to be that large.

I did get a few photos of one of them (I assume the male) flying over the lake. The park is beautiful! Take a fishing rod and picnic basket and make a day of it.

The past few days I had noticed that it was a bit of a struggle for the adults to keep both eaglets underneath them. So either they've given up on keeping both under hteir wings at the same time, or they're letting them get used to sleeping out in the open air one at a time.

Don't worry, it's not dead, it's just sleeping. Apparently, the preferred sleeping position for an eaglet is to faceplant into the nest.

Does anyone else find it amusing when they poop? It's astounding those little things can squirt it out that far. Nature is amazing.

I was watching this morning and the one fledgling was lying away like that until the adult started to feed. Got turned around and fed along side the other youngster. Looks like they've at least doubled in size.

I was hoping I wasn't alone. That totally cracks me up. I think we should create a poll for guessing when one of them finally paints the camera.
