OT...European population shift (map)

The former East Germany really stands out--as do the Baltics (which may be because of ethnic Russians leaving). The increases in France and Ireland stand out too.
 
Interesting. Thanks for posting. When I adopted from Russia, there was a lot of noise about population declines in western europe and russia. As a result, these countries were actively engaging immigration to keep the population up. In Western Europe, that meant Easter Europeans who were now free to move to established western governments, and North Africans/Middle Easterners. (most of these, BTW, were Muslim and this created a culture clash).

Russia can't get people to move there so they established programs to encourage pregnancies.
