so . . . I rejoined a fantasy football league I had been in for 10 years before I "retired" 2 years ago
(my adult nephew pulled me back in last season. first soliciting my advice, then making me co owner of 2 of his teams, which now sit at 9-3 and 8-4)
I'm currently at 6-5 in my old league. I inherited a team from someone who left the league . . . not a lot of good players but was able to keep Jordan Reed and DeAndre Hopkins, who I believe was a preseason top 10 player)
a win this week secures a playoff spot. Current down 9 points with Wendell Smallwood to play tonight (ugh, my opponent had the Chiefs kicker. thanks Broncos D for spotting the team the tie in regulation, then the 2 FGs in OT. BAST@RDS!)
ANYWAY, I don't think I have ever watched a more woeful offense that SHOULD be better than the Texans. I grossly underestimated how pathetically inconsistent Osweiler is as a QB, and how inconsistent the offensive play calling has been. Make no mistake, it is clear to me that Hopkins is STILL an amazing WR. They just don't throw him the ball. 5 receptions in each of the last 3 games (though he was screwed out of a long TD in Mexico!!). and I keep falling for the whole "he is due for a break out game" mentality. I blame BOB.
So who did I have on my bench as backup WRs? Michael Thomas and Kenny Britt. UGH. ok that's on me . . . (I started Davante Parker in my second slot. and Pierre Garcon in the FLEX spot. again, that is on me, made the classic FF management error of playing the matchups instead of starting my studs)
Just so frustrated with the Texans offense to the point I am rooting against them now.
Watch me bench Hopkins next week and he gets 3 TDs . . .
OK, share your tales of woe and misery!
