ESPN had an excellent 30/30 on this tragedy a few years ago. I don't think the manslaughter charges are really appropriate for what happened, this was a situation where the individuals managing the site and controlling the crowd did not use common sense and really did not comprehend what was happening or what was about to unfold.
The charges involving the lies and cover-up by the police are fully warranted. The police managing the crowds screwed up and the government refused to admit it.
I am not a lawyer in the USA or England. However, typically in the USA to be charged with manslaughter, even involuntary manslaughter you must have committed a crime that contributed to another person's unnatural death. Think PSU frat case, manslaughter came into play with the provision of alcohol to a minor and hazing. They led, many in the crowd, to their death!
The cover-up was equally appalling!
They deserve to be charged.
Never forget the "96".
The Liverpool players and fans never will.
