There's a very involved fraud case going on right now in multiple jurisdictions involving this Jonathan Pippin who has been defrauding anyone in his path, from racing investors to people looking for tickets for premium events. Apparently the affidavit shows that Norwood was cheated out of over $100K by the guy, also Danny Woodhead and others. Superstar trainer Bob Baffert was another one of his targets. Interesting story.

According to the affidavit, Pippin convinced the players to entrust him to invest in Thoroughbred racehorses through “an established horse investor, Mike R.” Over a period of time, from April 2011 through July 2012 the players wrote checks to Pippin totaling $492,423. (Reggie H. invested $303,152, Jordan N. $107,297, Daniel W. $57,799, and Chansi S. $24,175.)
However, instead of buying horses through Mike R., Pippin used the the money to support a lifestyle that included the purchase of a Cadillac Escalade and, the affidavit said, “gambling, sporting events, strip clubs and other personal expenses. … There were minimal expenditures on items associated with horse racing.”
