Was flipping through the AM dial this morning and it seems they've teamed Marty Griffin with Wendy Bell. If he alone isn't bad enough. The entire show seems to be an advertisement for the Catholic Church. Blaming most of the country's problems on the failure of Catholics to attend church on a regular basis. No offense, but this isn't what I look for in the city's only news station.

Seriously? That was said? Okay.
No, it was the tenor of their conversation and it just went on and on. That's fine, but again not what I think of when I'm looking for news. This is what religiously affiliated stations are for, not KDKA in my opinion.

Marty is an odd bird. A big Central Catholic alum, not surprisingly.
He was all over the Sandusky scandal. Not that I listen much of late, but haven't heard a whole lot from the station's hosts on the much larger scandal brewing right here in PA. Curious, is it not? Well, maybe not. It's called playing to your audience.

My mom said my downfall was when I no longer went to Catholic school but was going to public school. I was supposed to be a priest and that was her automatic ticket to heaven.

Like many who were all over Joe for the Sandusky crime he is a total hypocrite. He selectively gives others a pass and plays the innocent until proven guilty card, yet he blasted Joe. His game is his own self righteousness and preaching about what is wrong with the world today. I try not to waste my time listening to him whine, He noticeably likes to bang the Catholic drum too as his faith and the Catholic Church appear to be very important to him.

What's radio?

That reminds me of the episode of Cheers where Carla's son decided he was going to become a Priest and Carla started doing all kinds of bad stuff because she said there was a rule that if your son is a Priest then you get into heaven no matter what you do.

And then at the end of the episode her son changed his mind and decided to become something else.

Monsignor Rice was the worst. {years ago}

Leftist leaning communist priest he was.

My dad used to say: "He's no priest". "How do they let him on the air?"

KDKA was the first radio station in the U.S., so its got a much longer hill to go down than any other.

they used to cover PSU games......cannot believe they stopped . why wouldn't every mega station in PA cover the state's flagship university and football program????/

I’d expect no higher quality from Wendy Bell.
Wendy Bell was a fine TV news reporter for station WTAE who was unjustifiably fired. Bell made an honest comment on the air that was perceived as racist by the black community. Rather than do the right thing and support their TV reporter, they caved to a segment of the black community and the NAACP and fired Bell. Ruined her career because WTAE had no balls and no backbone. This is what our country has become.....ruining careers to appease people who are dead wrong. As a result, Wendy Bell has to resort to employment on the radio with a 2nd rate clown like Griffin.

I am going to take a stab at the average AM radio listener's demographic fits, or at least can nod along to, that sort of programming.

I barely listen to FM radio, let alone AM anymore and its not like I am super young either.

Commercial radio these days can't match satellite. I rarely listen other than for weather and local sports.

Yes they did but some of that might have been PSU's own fault. They thought they could bully their way into making the stations not only air the football games but also their bball games.
Didn't work.

This is accurate as we discussed before. To answer your question, the other scandal as you've probably heard is still more sexual abuse by priests. You see, Marty had no issue with outing a Presbyterian minister he caught in an adult sex shop sting (the story actually drove the guy to suicide), nor did he have any problem following the lynch mob regarding Penn State; however, he is strangely quiet when it comes to problems within his beloved Catholic church.

No I didn't know that about the new scandal.
I find that to be true with a lot of Catholics regarding the Sandusky scandal.
