I have some old books that I am thinking about putting on there, I have a prime account and wondering how is it compared to ebay?

Thanks

Books don't sell well on either site, fees are much higher on amazon, but it's all on the back end, no listing fees. The book sellers make money on volume. You can check ebay completed auctions or current prices on amazon to see if your books have value.

Have sold many of my two sons college books on Amazon. But it only makes sense when the going used sales price is $6+ due to the Amazon fees. Otherwise you are screwing around with a sale for very little $. Note that some college text books resale there for under $1 or just a few dollars. Others come out with new editions frequently making older editions depreciate quickly. So in general the faster you turn books around to sell them the better chance u have in making it a realistic and worthwhile transaction.

It's pretty easy to set up a sellers account and all communications takes place via email. Load up on cheap packaging materials and ur set. I always use parcel post, post office media rate. $2.50 - $4.00. I believe they give you $3.99 credit for shipping.

I always price used books near the lowest list price, and usually sell each in less than one week. Naturally, books in good condition usually command some premium.

So "old" books may be better served being donated with u taking a tax write off.

I sold about 10K music CDs on amazon...but, stopped about 3 years ago.

The CD age was coming to a close.

I still have a ton of stuff, but I will wait a few years to see how the values change over time. Then liquidate what I can.

Truth is that I often sold as many as 10 individual CDs a day, and rarely had a day where I sold none. Was getting to be a drag taking care of the packaging and mailing every day, and I needed a break.

Ebay for CDs was, at the time, a good way to acquire several lots of items at a reasonable price and then hunting for something special in the packages...like the old time cut bins. The remaining stuff with little or no resale value I sent to the troops stationed overseas.
