Just came across this headline on the Web:

Kim Kardashian Reveals Plans to Eat Her Placenta

I could not bear to read the full article, but I'm guessing it is fertile ground for some snarky comments. I'll take the first shot at it: Maybe Frank Fina can work this into an entertaining e-mail.

you guys seem to live rather cloistered lives. ;)

I know a few people, both female and male, that have done what KK plans to do. Placentophagy isn't all that common among humans, but it's been a fringe practice for quite a few years.

Human placenta is also an ingredient in some traditional Chinese medicines.

Not something that I ever wanted to taste, but to each their own.

That's awesome, Tom. Placentophagy. A new word for me, which can go along with one of my other favorites, Copraphagia. (Love the puzzled look I typically get when, in jest, I call someone a copraphage, and even more the subsequent expression of indignation after they have Googled it.)

The only other famous person who I can recall eating his kid's placenta is David Carradine, of Kung Fu fame. I believe David is reputed to have died by accidentally hanging himself in some kind of attempt at autoerotic stimulation. Think they found a rope tied around his neck and his nads, and then looped over a ceiling beam or door top. So the group of famous placenta eaters is not exactly something to write home about.

Just put Boursin cheese on it. Everything tastes better with Boursin!

I typically say something like this in jest, but I think there's some real merit to suggesting that the world would actually be a better place without any of that freakazoid family in it. We need to put them all on a spaceship and shoot them off to Mars where they can be with their own kind.

Well said Tom. This is hardly new. There is plenty to criticize KK about, but this is hardly worthy.

I think you meant "to eat their own".

The story strikes the wrong chord [sic] with me.

Wouldn't it actually be her child's Placenta or is there joint ownership?

She is going to have to do better than that to take back the Family Cup from Jenner.

She needs to man up.

Supposedly Chuck Berry and Sly Stallone are Copraphages - or so said the late, lamented Spy Magazine

Just how "Fringe" are we talking here? Are we out there with the Coprophrages? Are these folks considered more bizzare than necrophyliacs? Or, are they "full Kardashian"?

I was thinking about smoking one this weekend. Would you recommend hickory or maybe applewood?

Lots of women do this for the health benefits the placenta provides. Typically, it's mixed into a shake. My wife, however, was absolutely not doing this under any circumstance. We did save the cord blood/tissue in a bank for a nice fee...

My j$ck$ss sister-in-law did the same thing. She had vitamins made. She also did a natural home birth which shows you the level of common sense involved. Nothing like being recless with the birth of your own child for your own selfish purposes. It's not like the technology is there to keep you/child safe???? smdh
