Been talked about many times here, I know, but I'm looking to make a switch from Comcast to Fios.

My household TV viewing habits have changed drastically in the last 2 years. Just my son and me at home. He doesn't watch any TV at all, and I watch a little news and some live sports, mostly Penn State football. I do watch some of the Netflix series.

So, what I've been thinking is dumping my Comcast triple play which costs about $300/month (for 3 TV's premium channels, etc) and going with Fios and either Sling TV or Hulu.

Anyone have a similar arrangment? Other suggestions?

I’m gonna dump Comcast too. Similar boat.
Kids don’t watch tv. Paying 250 for triple play.
I’m gonna roll with just internet for awhile.
I might see if direct TV now is still offering an Apple TV if you sign op for a couple months as that is <$200 and you get the Apple TV.

Amazon Prime for $9 per month, add Netflix for $12 / month and pick up Play stations Vue for $35 to $70 depending on the the level you choose. I'm dropping the cable and selecting the $55 / month Vue level that includes B1G.

This. Plus you'll need a device to play all these options. Many new smart tv's come with them preloaded. But if you don't have that you'll need something like a roku/apple tv. I can't recomment amazon fire/stick anymore since Google pulled access to youtube on them in retaliation for amazon refusing to sell google mini's.

Prime Fire TV which I'm currently subscribed, uses the same control for HBO, CBS, netflix, History, etc. down load the Aps for each. I was watching youtube two weeks ago showing my wife the various PSU band, games, etc.I only tried youtube once on Prime.

Remote to turn the tv on, sound; Fire TV remote & I suppose one for the Play Vue, that's about all i can think of PS4814. For me it's not a problem...I'll watch all movies, tv series on Prime-Netflix, etc. & normal cable channels on Play Vue when i drop cable.

i went with Hulu through Apple TV. Hulu has two products...the normal Hulu which is like netflix (top product is the handmaid's tale) and Hulu Live TV. It was really sharpe as my apple TV is 4k. The olympics were really good...but finding shows and navigating was a problem. The channels are set up like Netflix does movies...flipping from one to the other to see what was on took several seconds to load. Other than that, it was good.

Don't have FIOS in my neighborhood yet (the line goes right by... but that's another story). but one draw back for myself I had noticed was that they didn't carry CSN (for obvious reasons) so no Phillies games for me, but I believe this has changed with the rebrand to NBC Sports Philadelphia

I ditched spectrum and went with directv now sports package with HBO for 60 a month plus I have Netflix and Hulu...saves a bunch and I use chromecast to watch everything

FiOS is good stable internet and cheaper than Comcast. You may be able to get 50 megabit for 40 a month the first year. 50 is fine for up to three video streams.

Nice thing about streaming services is none of them require contract. So if you only watch B1G for September, you can only pay for 1 month.

Now that PSU football is a big deal again, not many games on B1G. Most on Abc.

One issue is DVR capability. Varies widely in streaming services and usually sucks compared to TiVo. I still keep TiVo and antenna.

I dumped comcast for direct tv, My wife and I hate DTV with a passion. The only thing better about it is the price, but you get what you are paying for. Dump away on comcast, but find something other than DTV. Good luck

I'm using Amazon Prime & Netflix. Maybe I should add Hulu for $8.month (limited commercials) or Hulu for $12 month for ( no commercials).

I was in Comcast Service Center today getting a credit for something they were double billing me. Guy claimed in next few months they are coming out with packages to be more inline with PS Vue, DT Now, etc.

We shall see.

I hope so, been using Comcast for 35 years and like the convenience/familiarity and the dvr but hate the price

What he told you is true, and they just increased most internet packages download speeds by like 25%.

I'm not sure you can get the BTN without a cable or DTV subscription.

I am in the process of dumping direct tv. Already have prime for the 2 day shipping, get Netflix free with T-Mobile. I got an OTA antenna coming Monday. Hopefully will pick up my locals. Ended up getting direct tv NOW streaming service and prepaid for 3 months and got a free 4K Apple TV. Hopefully it all works out...will cover my locals, BTN, FS1&2, ESPN 1,2,3, all the kids and wife channels they like. Nice that you don’t have to deal with contracts and can cancel anytime. Fingers crossed for the OTA antenna to pick up what I need.

Anybody considering an antenna might consult this:

https://www.fcc.gov/media/engineering/dtvmaps

You enter an address and it gives a very precise estimate of what networks will be available via a roof antenna. Use elevation data between the address and the broadcasters.

The small indoor antennas will often work in urban areas, but if they don't, an old fashioned rooftop antenna can be much more effective.

My parents have had Comcast, Dish, and FiOS. I've been with DTV for 10 years and the User Interfere is SO much better than those three, price better too as long as you stay on top of it. Live DTV.
