Wow, that is Shocking.
Corrupt to the core................Governor..CORRUPT, Attny Gen...CORRUPT, Judges....CORRUPT, and the list goes on and on and on and on...................
Gotta love Hafer when the Feds asked her about the consulting fee, "it didn't go to me" as a defense for lying to the FBI because she said it went to the Consulting firm that is named after her and she owns - like Bill Clinton "It depends upon what the meaning of the word 'is' is.
It goes without saying there is unlimited corruption in Pennsylvania government but what does it say about we the voters who keep putting these people into office to fleece us? I once worked with a girl who came into work one day and said she had voted for the first time. When I asked her who she had voted for she could not tell me. I said if you voted, how could you not tell me one name and she said her father was a Penndot supervisor and he gave her a paper with the ballot numbers to pull. (This episode happened in the 80's before computer machines).Corrupt to the core................Governor..CORRUPT, Attny Gen...CORRUPT, Judges....CORRUPT, and the list goes on and on and on and on...................
You forgot: Business people.....CORRUPT.Corrupt to the core................Governor..CORRUPT, Attny Gen...CORRUPT, Judges....CORRUPT, and the list goes on and on and on and on...................
Had to come back and add more....You forgot: Business people.....CORRUPT.
It's a chicken or egg situation. Are the politicians innately corrupt and willing to accept illegal money with honest businessmen willing to pay for easy access? Or are the politicians innately honest but tempted by the promise of easy money offered by the crooked businessmen?Had to come back and add more....
What strikes me about the responses in this thread is the Blah Blah Blah Bloviating about corrupt politicians.
The fact of the matter, though, is that the linked article is about a corrupt private citizen business man and his citizen cronies....all of whom are now exposed due to the cooperation/assistance of a corrupt politician.
It is the corrupt business people and their corrupt practices that need to be changed more than anything else. It is the corrupt business people and their practices that people need to be bloviating about. Instead, I see people acting as if that is merely an incidental factor in the big picture. LOL and SMH.
Right on. Nothing gets done in this country without somebody getting their pockets stuffed. Cut out the graft and waste and our taxes would be cut in half. When the gov't is corrupt from the top of the federal level, why should the states be any different, let alone the local level. Only way to fix it is to take money out of the system and impose hard and short term limits across the board (senators, judges, mayor etc.). No lobbyists, no campaign donors, no secret squirrel super pacs, but those in power don't want the gravy train to end so we're left with a gov't that works for the people that line their pockets instead of the good of the country.
When have you last been surprised? As a PA resident, I'm actually more surprised when our politicians are ethical.
When have you last been surprised?
Can't believe people voted for a snitchActually, the details which were filed on Friday, became public yesterday, and are in papers across the Commonwealth today, are not new revelations. All they do is fill in some specifics. McCord worked out a deal and plead guilty a long time ago. Sentencing has been held up by the Feds, as he was a cooperating informer/witness. The Feds had previously filed more general charges against those listed in the article, and the press and most that could put 2 and 2 together had figured out the identities of those identified in the article.
Basically, old news, though some of the details have been filled in, now that McCord's usefulness as an informer has run its course.

Are you suggesting that all business people are corrupt?
Until proven otherwise, that is my starting point when dealing with any business.
Not if he is the guy with the cash, and the business wants it.The burden of proof would be on you.
Not if he is the guy with the cash, and the business wants it.
I trust businesses and people whom I know to be trustworthy. All others pay cash and put it in writing.
Do you think such businesses trust me? I simply do not trust anyone who appears not to trust me. Any other approach is foolish.
