OT: Just another day in the world of corrupt PA Politics... Geez

Gotta love Hafer when the Feds asked her about the consulting fee, "it didn't go to me" as a defense for lying to the FBI because she said it went to the Consulting firm that is named after her and she owns - like Bill Clinton "It depends upon what the meaning of the word 'is' is.

Honest to God.... After the whole traffic court debacle in Philadelphia, Kathleen Kane fiasco and now this the Fed's have to look at the state of PA and think the corruption is so large they are not even sure they can attack all of it. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if many people in Federal Govt are feeding from the trough as well...

When the gov't is corrupt from the top of the federal level, why should the states be any different, let alone the local level. Only way to fix it is to take money out of the system and impose hard and short term limits across the board (senators, judges, mayor etc.). No lobbyists, no campaign donors, no secret squirrel super pacs, but those in power don't want the gravy train to end so we're left with a gov't that works for the people that line their pockets instead of the good of the country.

Corrupt to the core................Governor..CORRUPT, Attny Gen...CORRUPT, Judges....CORRUPT, and the list goes on and on and on and on...................
It goes without saying there is unlimited corruption in Pennsylvania government but what does it say about we the voters who keep putting these people into office to fleece us? I once worked with a girl who came into work one day and said she had voted for the first time. When I asked her who she had voted for she could not tell me. I said if you voted, how could you not tell me one name and she said her father was a Penndot supervisor and he gave her a paper with the ballot numbers to pull. (This episode happened in the 80's before computer machines).

You forgot: Business people.....CORRUPT.
Had to come back and add more....

What strikes me about the responses in this thread is the Blah Blah Blah Bloviating about corrupt politicians.

The fact of the matter, though, is that the linked article is about a corrupt private citizen business man and his citizen cronies....all of whom are now exposed due to the cooperation/assistance of a corrupt politician.

It is the corrupt business people and their corrupt practices that need to be changed more than anything else. It is the corrupt business people and their practices that people need to be bloviating about. Instead, I see people acting as if that is merely an incidental factor in the big picture. LOL and SMH.

It's a chicken or egg situation. Are the politicians innately corrupt and willing to accept illegal money with honest businessmen willing to pay for easy access? Or are the politicians innately honest but tempted by the promise of easy money offered by the crooked businessmen?

He could have been our governor. He ran in the D primary in 2014.

Right on. Nothing gets done in this country without somebody getting their pockets stuffed. Cut out the graft and waste and our taxes would be cut in half.

Actually, the details which were filed on Friday, became public yesterday, and are in papers across the Commonwealth today, are not new revelations. All they do is fill in some specifics. McCord worked out a deal and plead guilty a long time ago. Sentencing has been held up by the Feds, as he was a cooperating informer/witness. The Feds had previously filed more general charges against those listed in the article, and the press and most that could put 2 and 2 together had figured out the identities of those identified in the article.

Basically, old news, though some of the details have been filled in, now that McCord's usefulness as an informer has run its course.

Can't believe people voted for a snitch

Both parties, both genders, all races, young and old, local and statewide, city, country, and suburbs. Not just corrupt about money, but also porn, race and contempt for women. Not just crooked, but scummy. Not just legislators and constitutional officers, but judges at all levels, prosecutors and cops.

There is no issue so important that it cannot be sacrificed for politics and money in Pa. Our child care system lets helpless kids starve to death and get brutalized in their own homes. The use of an broad indictment of a Pillar child sex predator to enact cheap petty political vendettas while ignoring the failures of the CYS and the licensed psychologist in charge has a level of shamefulness that beggars the imagination.

Pennsylvania. What a sumphole.

Sorry Tom not living in PA anymore, it's not easy keeping up with the news in PA. Especially with corruption as it seems there is always a new story breaking about corruption in PA all the time.

Are you suggesting that all business people are corrupt?

Did someone say "Kleptocracy"?

I trust businesses and people whom I know to be trustworthy. All others pay cash and put it in writing.

Do you think such businesses trust me? I simply do not trust anyone who appears not to trust me. Any other approach is foolish.

A fair explanation. And, I respect that point of view, Dem. The purpose of my post was to address this tendency many people have to extrapolate to an entire population based on the activity(ies) of a few.

Thank you.

Let's not forget he's the other half of the Corman-McCord v. NCAA suit. What guys to have "on your side."
