Totally off topic, but I thought I'd start my search here.

I have an old laptop that died in 2010. Basically just wouldn't turn on even when plugged in, so not a battery issue. From the research I did at the time I kind of deduced that the motherboard went and would need replaced. I looked into it but basically everyone I talked to said it's almost as expensive to just buy a brand new laptop. Replacing the motherboard would cost several hundred dollars which could be put towards something better.

So I never did anything with it and it's sat for the past 5 years. Anyway, I'd like to access the hard drive and get anything that's on it off so I can just move on from it. Is that even possible to access the HD if the laptop won't turn on? Any kind of cable that I can buy or something along those lines to hook the laptop HD to a desktop or other laptop and access it? Not even sure what my options would be in this case.

Thanks for any helpful tips or info.
