OT: McGloin

The Raiders brought Christian Ponder in from the Vikings to be David Carr's backup, so Matt McGloin has been operating at a handicap all preseason. But he has had a really solid preseason, to the point where the Raiders brass were not publicly anointing Ponder as the No. 2 guy. Don't know if McGloin can surpass Ponder, but I think it's clear he will stick with the Raiders. He is well liked.

The icing on the cake is he may very well stick around the league long enough to get an NFL pension...with the possibility of coaching after that.

I still don't get why BOB has not tried to get McGloin. Hoyer and Mallett are not superstar QB's & McGloin knows BOB's system. I think Matt could be successful in Houston.

Probably because of his 8 TD, 8 INT and QB rating of 76. I love Moxie, but I think we overrate him on here being a former Penn Stater. He is a solid backup, but nothing more.

Im telling you BOB has a plan to throw this season and draft Hack.

Matt is a very good backup and I don't know why the Raiders keep trying to find a guy to replace him.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone overrate him.. In fact, most have been quite the opposite and have a very similar tone to your post. First full season for Peyton Manning.. 71.2 passer rating, 26 td, 28 interceptions.. that's with full first team reps and every snap as a rookie.. I don't believe Matt McGloin is going to be Peyton Manning, but using McGloin's rookie year stats isn't a very good argument against him being a starter. Personally, I can't help but wonder what Matt could do with full first team reps and starting position. He might have success. He might fail. But from where he's come from, I certainly can't label him one way or the other since everyone that's attempted to label him has been flat out wrong.

Wonder if Trace McSorley is a good comp for McGloin?
If McSorley can play that well, he could work out fine as a starter or major contributor for 2016 or beyond.

Being a Va native, I can tell you McSorely is a stud and the dude just wins.

Actually from talkig with his family, I think broadcasting is were he may finally end up.

The Cowboys are waiting for the Del Rio mistake when the Raiders cut Moxie. The Cowboys quickly pick Moxie off the wire and after Romo goes down week two, Moxie leads the Cowboys into the playoffs riding into Dallas on a White Horse to receive the keys to the city.

Hollywood is already doing casting calls to the Made for TV Movie titled:

"America's Team finally has a real American Story"

It's funny reading Raiders boards watching the Bolden - McGloin phenomenon happen every year .

The gif attached is hysterical (hey coach, don't leave me hanging)

And this was my favorite quote:

"im not worried either, mcgloin is a backup, its just fun to think about. mcgloin has always been like.. the mascot around here ever since he came in
he’s like the epitome of.. human will or something"
Raiders is life

The kid has spunk.....I love spunk. He keeps walking on.....and on.....and on.....and on.

I liked this quote but it seems to go beyond spunk into steely will territory!
