I remember Mike the Mailman and his kind and friendly service at the 54 McAllister Building Post Office. A steady personality among us students during my tenure.

He appears on a weekly TV Penn State fans talk show during the season along with Keith Conlin, Brandon Noble, and other rotating guests. Called the Obligatory PSU Pregame Show or something like that.

Pretty entertaining at times; it's 4 Penn State guys sitting at the pub, drinking beer and talking PSU football.

Every time I see that guy I think….there is a man that enjoys life. What a great attitude. I admire and respect him for that.

The Pollyanna voice in my head is happy that somebody as kind and positive as Mike is recognized for his years of service in both his official and voluntary capacities. Then the Debbie Downer voice speaks up and says how sad it is that such kindness is so rare that it has to be honored.
