I was at Penn State at the time and heard the news while buying groceries at McLanahan's. The rumor that day was that Clapton had also died in the same crash.

Vaughan was tremendous.

My brother's best friend was the tour manager for Stevie Ray at the time. He was heartbroken when it happened and came back to Levittown to grieve. He has managed tours for the last 35 years. For the last five he has managed tours for Carlos Santana.
