I was really surprised at how good it was...
Its called the 3 Amigos.
1.5 oz. of Ruby Red Vodka (I used the minis Shady Fruit Ruby Red Grapefruit)
1/2 oz pomegrante juice
3/4 oz White Tequila
3 oz of a Hefewizen beer. ( I used a Blue Moon I had in the fridge but I bet a Hoegaarden would be awesome).
I am impressed.

Reminded me of a former neighbor in Mifflin Hall (same time MM was there) who liked wine coolers. He'd always comment how "tasty" they were. He was a strange bird. I'm not saying you are, just that your story reminded me of it.

I trust you, but I think I'll pass . When I read the name of the drink and made the connection with the ingredients, I immediately thought there must be some associated joke that starts with "a Russian, Mexican and German walk into a bar"

Reminds me of the Sloe Comfortable Screw party the guys in the dorm room next to mine had one evening. I was offered some, but told them I would stick to enjoying beer and music in my own room. To this day even the thought of Sloe Gin, Southern Comfort, Vodka and Orange Juice still sends chills down my spine. Needless to say, all who attended the party got screwed - spent a good part of the wee hours of the morning praying to the porcelain gods.

No thanks - my advice is just stick with the classic cocktails. Manhattans, Old Fashions, Martinis, Bloody Mary's, and Gin and Tonics. Tried and true for 100 years. And same for beer - Guinness is the beer you've been practicing for, and if you must go lighter, nothing wrong with a Yeungling. A lime in a bottle of beer is blasphemy. Pumpkin ale? Please don't get me started.

Too complicated... Why not just drink good beer if you don't like hard alcohol?

Not complicated at all. And I like both.
Just wanted to try something new and saw this in a Southwest Airline Magazine and thought it sounded interesting.
I liked it. I think I'd like it better if the grapefruit flavored Vodka was a little more subtle.

I'm partial to Deep Eddy grapefruit vodka myself. We just mix it with soda and a splash of lemonade, it's a great summer drink. Deep Eddy's sweet tea and lemon flavors are also pretty solid. I'm partial to them since they use natural ingredients for the flavoring and they originated here in Austin. They even recently opened up a distillery/tasting room here. But they just sold their business to another company out of state, I'm hoping the quality doesn't drop off.

thanks for the info. I will try the Deep Eddy's.

Their unflavored vodka is nothing special, stick to the flavored stuff. Tito's is better for plain vodka when looking at our local brands.

I am a big Titos fan. Its my "go to" Vodka.
I meant I will try the Deep Eddy's ruby red flavor. I did see it at my local store but
this was a new drink that I wasn't sure about so I wasn't going to spend 15 bucks or more on Vodka I wasn't was going to like, hence the minis.
I had heard that Titios was making a grapefruit flavor but I haven't seen it up this way.

If you are interested in a light cocktail for the lady friend, try this - I call it a Raspberry Splash

In a Collins glass:

Add ice to 1/2 the glass
3 measures of Raspberry Vodka
Fill to just below top with club soda
Splash of Sprite
Add orange slice and cherry as a garnish.

It's great for the summer months.
