I have two points about this shitty company:

1- How Freaking irritating are their pop up windows reminding you to buy their software after their trial period ended ?
2- They make the viruses in the first place....kinda' like a glass company paying kids to go throw rocks at windows.

Hate that company!

Ok, I feel much better now.....carry on.

I had to basically nuke it entirely out of my laptops.

Norton Anti-Virus IS a virus. Maybe worse than a common virus actually.

best move i made was ditching that crap

fully convinced they are a very large part of the problem.. working on job security.

once removed from my pc, my pc smiled at me and said, let's rock. full speed ahead...

What antivirus programs do you guys use?

Seems to me that they all suck, but you have to use something.

You could get a MAC :) I have used Macs for the last 25 years. NEVER got a "virus" and I have never used any "virus protection software". Is there a chance you will get a virus? sure, but not for me in the last quarter century :)

OK, let's here from the DOS crowd :)

I have a MAC but I still use Sophos (free) to give me piece of mind. By the way, I'm on my 4th MAC and this latest one is about 3 years old. It will be my last. Through all the years, I've never gotten used to the damn things and I have come to absolutely hate the one I have. I use the MAC at my office, but have an old Dell at home that I much prefer. I would never buy another MAC.

Webroot seems OK for me so far. I have tried Norton and McAfee before.

Re: What antivirus programs do you guys use?

My employer uses McAfee on all PCs, and since employees remote connect from home, they provided copies to us free. Worst piece of garbage ever.

Worst was my wife's laptop...constantly infected, as she browses shopping and coupon sites, any news link she finds, links in chain-emails she gets from friends, etc. At least every two months I had to spend a couple hours running scans, Malwarebytes, and rootkit removers.

At recommendation from Tech Support Guy forum I bought licensed version of Avast Internet Security, which include email scan, antispyware, antimalware, firewall, etc. Seriously, other than detected/cleaned warnings now and then, my wife's machine has needed no attention from me for a couple years.

My only knock on Avast is that their warning interface is annoying, so you have to turn most of the warnings off to maintain your sanity. Other than that, it rocks.

I also use Webroot (for past year and a half)--seems pretty good.

LOL, I have a MAC in use for photo editing, but I hate it for every

thing else. BTW every OS upgrade makes the MAC more like a PC especially with pop ups and other advertising crap. Have an old lap top with MS Office that I use if I have to do correspondence or documents.
