OT: Penn St. in top 5 for producing the best entry level candidates.

Your education opens doors, better schools (Ivy, Stanford, etc.) can open even bigger doors, but in the end it is what you do while in school that counts. Grades are important, but involvement with clubs, sports, part-time jobs, volunteering, etc. can enhance ones opportunities.

The article does not square up with my real life experience, both from an undergraduate perspective and as a lawyer for over 40 years. Where you go to school does matter, a lot. It may not matter among a group of graduates who have gone to Penn State, Pitt, Boston College, Florida, etc., but throw in Harvard (or any Ivy), or Stanford, and the difference is substantial. Can someone from Penn State achieve as much, or more, than a Harvard or Stanford grad. Sure, but the latter two have an enormous edge.
