OT: Phillies

Was a great night. I was the park Sunday for a great game

Bats are starting to wake up big time!

They are 39-21 since June 1st… basically playing at a .650 clip for 2-1/2 months. They are very good (also very frustrating at times) & they can absolutely make another run.

No hitter vrs Washington just now
Been waiting for a Phillies thread, a fan since 1950, question though, why does the city seem to embrace the Eagles more than the Phillies. Eagles owner is a carpet bagger from Boston who threatened to move the team unless he got a new stadium, Phillies owners going back to the Carpenter's, all local. By the way i have only been to one game at Eagles Stadium, PSU vs. Temple, basically a home game for PSU, if I recall D. Williams had a punt return.

Good question. There seem to be more die hard Eagle fans than Phillies fans, as you can see by the Phils' attendance coming off a WS trip it's way up. Eagles sell out in good years and bad, it seems.

NFL football is simply more popular than baseball, I believe. Ownership doesn't have a lot to do with it unless the owner is a complete incompetent or ratbag, which I wouldn't put Lurie in that slot.

This is gold. These two guys become baseball fans right on the spot.

It's all good as it's only 109 days until pitchers and catchers report.

Its a stubbornness just like we see with our coaches. Topper refuses to adjust a lineup not hitting because he's afraid of the blowback. Our coaches stick with a QB that's rattled hoping for a miracle but worried about what happens to his psyche if he gets replaced for a series.

Consistency is only good when its working and you dont have to rip the bandaid off to affect change. But to stick to your same strategy to the bitter end just because is nonsense.

You could have made a fortune if you bet $500 on the Dbacks to win the NCLS before game 6. A shocker for sure.
I was in Scottsdale Wed-Saturday last week in that 103-degree weather. Game four tickets were going for less than $30 for a NLCS playoff game. When they won game 3, tickets for game 4 went up to $100 minimum but were in the $40 range a few hours before the opening pitch.
