is a limit of 4 per person(!) but there is a $2 charge per order. I guess this proves that to the pitters, perception is everything.

"Panther Fans!

You can be Pitt’s winning edge when we host North Carolina next Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN College Football Thursday Primetime. We want our team, and a national ESPN television audience, to see a great atmosphere at Heinz Field as the Panthers go for a third consecutive victory. As a small token of appreciation, we want to reward our loyal and passionate fans with a special ticket offer. Pitt Athletics will provide you four free tickets to invite friends and family out to enjoy some Panthers Football. Let’s make every effort to fill Heinz Field and build an atmosphere that gives our Panthers the best opportunity to win!

Wow. I'd be irritated if I was 1 of the 10 pitt fans who actually bought tickets (much less season tickets). I pay to get tickets while the athletic department then turns around and gives away 4 free tickets to people the week before the game?

Guess they couldn't get rid of them all on Trick-or-Treat night.
"Hershey bar, or free Pitt football tickets, youngster?!"
"Hershey bar, please!"
Repeat all night long.

Shoulda given away some leftover custom key tags.

How pissed must the season ticket buyers be at this point? And I guess they had to join the Golden Panther Club or whatever in order to get the season tickets. Flush goes that money!

But, Doozy tweets "HTP" when PSU loses, so they are on solid footing and all. And next year's season ticket sales will go Boom! again like in 2016!
All is well.

Wow is that sad. Ironically as a PSU fan if I wanted to come up with a "ticket promotion" for a Pitt game just to make them look silly this might be exactly what I would have said. That program is complete mud.

Pitt is deathly afraid that absolutely nobody will be at that game on Thursday night, and that it will be a huge humiliation on national television. And rightfully so. If the weather is bad, they won't get 10,000 bodies in there.

Instead of embarrassing themselves with emails like this, they should just leave all the gates open and not even bother with tickets. Make the whole place general admission with open seating. And if the handful of people who are there that really did buy tickets are upset with this, they can just give them all a free beverage.

This is a great advertising opportunity for mattress companies. Simply buy 6 adjacent seats and sit a mattress on them. Find a typical sleeping pitt fan and check in repeatedly during the game showing how comfortable the mattress is and how soundly the fan is sleeping.

So what is preventing a bunch of Penn State fans from buying 4 tickets and then just not bothering to show up? It might actually be worth the $2.

Why would you even bother? Nobody is buying those tickets anyway.

I like the caveat “while supplies last”. Like they’re in any danger of that not happening. Seriously, this has the potential of really backfiring on them. If it’s a small crowd the narrative will be that Pitt football is so bad they can’t even give tickets away. What’s next, paying people to come?

$2.00. PER TICKET !!!! is the even enough to cover the cost to print the Ticket Pitiful
It's actually worse than that. It'll be $2 for the entire order if you get four. 50 cents per ticket is still too much. The tickets are located in the lower level end zone which generally gets the most screen time. Pitt is hoping to fool any viewers into thinking a packed end zone equals a full stadium.

Open the gates, offer a free meal, a free Pitt shirt, and a free blanket to all homeless people.
