OT: PSU USC Football

Pre-gaming at USC, and there are an absolute ton of PSU fans walking around all over the place. Very impressive.
Jealous that you got to go. Thought about it, but it didn't work out this year. Hopefully will in 2028.

How were the USC fans?

Anything else you can share about the game environment, and pre- and post-game festivities?

Hah! I didn’t realize that there was a wrestling event today at some venue called the Coliseum. I was referring to PSU’s win today over USC. But then again, this IS a wrestling forum.

We went to a bar called 901 before the game. It was loaded with PSU fans. Turns out, unbeknownst to our group at the time, there was a good reason for it. But, it was packed, and loud, with a "We are!" chant from time to time.

The Coliseum seats are USC red, which masked the small crowd size. Announced attendance was 75K, but if capacity of that place is 77K, there is no way there were 75,000 people there. But, there were lots and lots of white shirts. And blue ones.

Generally, the USC fans were gracious and fun. But, I did hear a couple of Sandusky comments, one of which almost caused me to drag the dude under the bridge.

For the hell that we went through getting there, we couldn't have asked for a better day and game. Perfect.

Im going to the Tennessee vs Miss st game in Nov! Hope to see you around town.
Took in the Bama - South Carolina game with a State College bud yesterday. Down on the strip one of the JoyRide Taxi like golf carts rolls up and the driver hollers to us. Turns out he was an Alabama State Champ who walked onto the PSU team last year. He quickly volunteered that he was “just a room guy”. Wrestled at 174 (ug … that’s tough sledding). I think his name was Josh Kirby, but, perhaps someone on this forum knows better. He went to Penn State for one year to learn from the best and had a nice ring to show for it.
By the way, the Alabama fans were universally nice to us. A contact of ours got us into the practice facility on Friday and we got to meet DeBoar, Womack, the strength coach, players and see all their training rooms. Very high tech, glitzy beyond imagination ….. all those championship rings. Our Cael …. he’s building a Legend too!!!

So cool of you to post this. I really like hearing about fans experiences in different venues. I had heard the Bama fans were a good base all-in-all. Probably wny Paterno and the Bear seemed to be friendly to one another.

OT to the OT topic, did anyone watch the Oregon tOSU game? I know the final chance for a FG was a long shot, but why would the QB run up the middle to let the clock run out and eliminate any FG chance?
He was under pressure, and they were out of FG range, so a throw-away just means a Hail Mary. He had to take off. He could've called timeout if he had stopped 2 yards sooner.

Not nearly his biggest brain fart in the last 30 sec of the game. They lost another 10 sec after the offensive pass interference, when they weren't ready to go.

LOL at Ohio State losing on multiple brain farts.

OTOH: I'm still bitter at Oregon fans chanting "You're #2" at us at the end of the 1995 Rose Bowl. So I was rooting for the meteor.

Forgot to post this the other week when PSU was playing Illinois, but Cael got a quick little shoutout by the broadcast team for helping Drew Allar improve his mentality. It went something to the effect of the announcers discussing how Drew has seemed to be in a better place mentally this season. Drew credited Cael for coming in to talk with the team during the offseason or preseason.

In a nutshell, Cael told the team to block out anything in their lives that isn’t positive. It resonated with Drew and he deactivated his social media. He said it helped him focus more on the positive things in his life and far less on the criticisms.

I was there.
I saw you at the airport.

Penn State has been playing with fire all season. They haven't played a single good first half all season, and have relied on flipping the switch and dominating after the break. They barely survived this weekend, and eventually, they're going to find themselves down 28-0 or something at halftime and there won't be enough time in the second half to come back. They've got to be better for all 60 minutes.

Try to enjoy the moment.

Seems to me linebacker play has not been solid with new defensive scene. Numerous plays our linebackers are dropping back on snap and are too far off line of scrimmage to fill gaps. Happens early in games????

I was on Bourbon Street in New Orleans with a PSU shirt on, lots of LSU fans meandering around.

I few weeks ago I flew to Brussels and when I got off the plane a guy in the immigration line had a PSU wrestling shirt on, i said We Are and he looked at me funny. I said come on as I pointed to his shirt, he said, oh, yeah right…..
