Postponed my planned 4th of July trip and now flying down tomorrow. Will be there through Wednesday. Postponed the trip so that my son and I could see Slash at the Ryman Auditorium on this coming Tuesday night. Also seeing Tenacious D Sunday night.

We have tours and meetings set up for Monday at Belmont U. My son is a pretty good guitarist and is interested in Belmont's Music Business program. Slash happens to be his favorite guitarist and my son can play Welcome to the Jungle note for note. I struggle on bass to play with him.

Anyway. ..hit me up with recommendations. I know about Acme Feed and Seed. Other places I could take a minor?

Live in Nashville:

For lunch/dinner love the Southern Steak and Oyster, in most of Broadway you can have your minor son in any of the Honky tonks until I think 6:00 PM, which is where he will see lots of music talent.

See who is playing at the Opry......lots of great musicians.

Live music is everywhere go to Broadway, Demonbreun, see who is playing at Ascend. Bluebird is interesting for song writers nights, but is becoming kind of a tourist trap......

That was great! Wasn't sure from your post who that is.

My son is more into classic rock guitarists ... David Gilmore, Slash. Sreve Vai, Eddie van Halen, etc.

He's playing lead guitar to Welcome to the Jungle at a rock recital next month.

There is a bourbon or whiskey trail, with several distilleries in Nashville. When on a couples weekend in February, we spent Saturday afternoon Ubering to all of the distilleries. It was a great time and we had some great cocktails.

“What to do” is highly correlated with where you’re generally residing. Downtown or the ‘Burbs?

Do NOT stay at the Hotel Preston near the airport. Also, it is a shitty flight from PHl. Just a heads up. Great town and Brentwood is a much chiller place to hang than downtown.

Go to Edley’s BBQ in an area called 12 South. It is just a couple of miles from Belmont. My daughter went to Belmont and if your son is into music it is the place for him. They have built some nice buildings in the last 10 years. Good Luck.

Great area. Ryman and Opryland are fantastic, but it's hard to choose wrong with pretty much anything on/off Broadway.

Very seriously considering relocating there. I'm a PA native living in MD, but took my daughters on a land tour of universities between here and Nashville 6 years ago. We hit JMU, UVA, Roanoke, UT, UK, AP, Louisville, Vandy, Marshall, and WVU to let them see the different settings. One has graduated from VT with a great job in accounting and the other is a senior in business at UGA (she wanted the southern experience and chose UGA over Clemson, USC, and GT).

Have been to Nashville a number of times and really like the geography, people, and of course, the music.

Currently having dinner at Woolworth's on 5th. Came here on the recommendation of the hotel bartender. Pretty cool place. Big band playing Count Basi, Tommy Dorsey and Glen Miller. Couples dancing East Coast Swing and Jitterbug. Southern cuisine. Nice Nashville intro.

Nashville is a great place to work and live but I must say in the past 6 or 7 years has lost some charge due to some local places being forced out to put high rise condos. It is still one of the best and most cool cities in America.
