The funeral was held this morning. (original string: http://bwi.forums.rivals.com/threads/lacrosse-goalie-connor-darcey-21-dies.17700/)
My brother and I were attending my mom's burial this weekend in Scranton when he heard of the death. Apparently the father of the goalie is an associate of my brother in Rhode Island. When he told me the story of the demise of his associate's son, based on the details it sounded like the young man from PSU. Sadly, it was.
Mark, my brother (PSU '80) attended the funeral today. So did Sandy Barbour along with other coaches and staff from the Athletic Department. Naturally the coach gave a reflection of the young man and of course the entire team was there.
I find it reassuring (if not impressive) that the AD and other staffers attended the memorial of this young man. In my mind it reflects positively on the individual that Sandy et al truly are: not just bureaucrats but caring people, too
Take this for what it is worth.
What a sad, sad day. I feel terrible for the parents.
