Saw it at the Spectrum on Thursday, June 29, 1977. Great show. We had waited in line for hours weeks earlier at the old Sears in St. Davids. Well worth the wait in the end.

I was a HUGE Floyd fan was I was at PSU, but I always founds Animals to be a little bit uneven. I actually preferred a lot of their earlier stuff (Meddle is fantastic, as is Piper at the Gates of Dawn, although they were clearly a different band with Syd fronting them).

Some of the individual parts of Animals are great (i.e. some of Pigs is fantastic), but I don't think it is as listen-able as their other stuff.

Obviously the above is not the point. Great job simons of finding a theme song for Ira.

it is one of the most incisive criticisms of corporate culture. Yeah some parts are musically uneven, but man the last 4 minutes of "Sheep" have some of the most powerful chord changes in music history . . .

I at one time was a little critical of the record. I've gone back and listened and am quite satisfied with it as a whole. I have "Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii: Director's Cut" in the Netflix queue and am really looking forward to it.

It isn't for everyone. I, personally, am rewarded for my patience with Live at Pompeii.
