Re: Places to see, stay and eat, Will be driving a loop from Phoeniz north to Flagstaff/ Grand Canyon, east to Albuquerque/Santa Fe; south to Las Cruces; west to Tucson, and north to Phoenix.
Wife and I are in our mid 70s so wont be doing a lot of hiking, climbing, etc. Some early thoughts are: north through Sedona, north into and out of Grand Canyon village via rtes 180/ 64, then east on rte 64 to rte 89 then south to Flagstaff; east on I40 to meteor crater, then Petrified Forest NP, 2-3 days in Alb. and Santa Fe with daughter who is in Santa Fe on business, driving southeast to see the crazies at Roswell, west to see the Trinity atomic bomb test site ( as close as we can get to it), then west to Tucson. and north to Phoenix.
Would appreciate your favorite spots near that route. Places to avoid. Traffic problems in grand Canyon during midMay, etc. Im sure there is only so much desert, canyon, scenery you can enjoy before it becomes monontonous. Sights to see in Phoenix, Flagstaff, Alb, SF, Tucson, etc?
Seeking fun, enjoyment, bang for your buck rather than deluxe accommodations.
Thanks
