There's no other film quite like this. It's just great. The leads are two lesser-known stars, Joel McCrea and Veronica Lake. This is really special; it's one of my very favorite movies. From 1941, it's directed by Preston Sturges, who knocks it out of the park.

In some movies there are specific scenes that hit home every time you watch them, like the Don's and Michael's last conversation in The Godfather:

Or the 'Why did you come back?" scene in Grand Illusion:

There is a scene in a makeshift movie theater in Sullivan's Travels that is one of the greatest things I've ever seen. I love this movie.

I hate the Disney cartoon scene. The laughter is so overdone it is beyond a believable response.

More fake than a Seinfeld laugh track.

One of my favorites was aired last night: A Tree Grows In Brooklyn. Elia Kazan's debut as director.

The laughter might be over the top for today's audience, but think about what audiences would have been used to in 1941 when the film was made. Cartoons were just starting to be made into commercial successes and film with sound was still in its infancy.
