Fleetville, Pa.
I saw it last night and it was an entertaining and very talkative & violent (especially the last chapters) film. Reminiscent of Reservoir Dogs (Tim Roth & Michael Madsen in this one too) in a cabin. It was a dark, humorous film overall and the actors appeared to play it out in an over the top fashion, which I am sure is deliberate. It includes another memorable dialogue scene by Samuel L. Jackson that stands up with the Christopher Walken/Dennis Hopper True Romance scene & Walken watch scene in Pulp Fiction. You need to be savvy to Tarantino films and enjoy this type of film. If you don't, then I would advise you avoid it as you may be bored and/or disgusted by the bloodshed. It is also a tad bit too long and I did not see the roadshow 70mm version so I did not get the benefit of an intermission, but, strangely, the film included the Tarantino voiceover that sets the stage post intermission in the roadshow version. Not Tarantino's best, but entertaining for all the scene chewing scenes by Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jennifer Jason Leigh, who was terrific as a totally despicable Daisy Domergue. Walton Goggins was also terrific, but anyone who was a fan of Justified knew that already. I now await the release of The Revenant next week. Seems like the season of epics (Star Wars, Hateful 8, The Revenant).

Nice - will likely have to wait until next week to see it though. You can tell this is completely a character piece - the 70mm is nice, but most of the movie takes place in a pretty confined location. Still at around three hours you know Tarantino was just indulging himself with this one (which can go either way - Kill Bill worked great as two movies).

Will be interesting to see what he does next - have heard of a Kill Bill sequel (though won't happen until a certain actress is a bit older) and another WWII/Inglorious Basterds related flick.

Channing Tatum was miscast and should stick to Chippendales movies. All of the other actors were superb (no one does a menacing smirk like Michael Madsen), much better than the directing IMO.

I thought it was very good and beautifully filmed. Quite a few good performances. Has anyone seen the Roadshow?

"And I still didn't give him the blanket!"

Tarantino... self indulgent?!?!?! what? I'd rather watch Pitt football than sit through a Tarantino film.
