Japan surrendered on Aug 15, it was announced in the US on Aug 14.
Tnx....It's marked on my calender as today.
Well, there were a few holdouts. Teruo Nakamura (shown below) held out on Morotai until December, 1974. He was quoted by a local peasant in 1962 as saying "It's not over until I say it's over". In 1974 he said "It's over."
