my house has a foyer that is open to the second floor above the stairs. There is a light fixture hanging from the ceiling that has some burned out bulbs, but we can’t use a ladder to reach because of the stairs. Home Depot and Lowe’s sell a tool to change light bulbs, but only works for bulbs oriented down like recessed lights. We have multiple candle like bulbs oriented upward towards the ceiling.

Do any of you have similar lights and/or know of a long handled tool to change lightbulbs?

Wow, that must be tough. I had one that did point down, not up like yours, and I borrowed that tool from someone and even though I'm not very handy, I was able to get the burned out bulb out and put a new one in. I was pretty proud of myself. But if bulb points upwards? That sounds damn near impossible. I think if it were me I'd notice that before buying the house and then not buy the house or at least insist the sellers put new LED bulbs in before I bought it.

My brother-in-law is a tool, I think he can help you.

I have the same problem. Really hoping somebody has an answer.

Do you have a landing at the top is the stairs? I have similar fixture and from my landing I can use my 7 iron to pull the fixture close enough to change the bulbs

Quite honestly it’s pribably the best use of my 7 iron.
Good thought, but wouldn’t reach all of them.

this is how you do it,

That is interesting. In my case I would have to span about 10 feet. Could work though.
2x6 is still good for 10 feet, just put them on 16" or less centers and cover with a 4x8 sheet. Make sure to bias it toward the end that you'll be getting onto the platform so that you're less likely to step through and hurt yourself.

However you do it, you may have to do it only once if you use high-end LED bulbs and avoid turning it on. (Assuming it is not fully enclosed.)

Just ask your butler to take care of it for you.
