I need to settle this for once and all. Should you buy the "extra coverage" on a rental car. Note I already have car rental credit card coverage (which should supplement your deductible??--I'm calling today to get the exact details). I wanted your guys experience with rental car damage.. I've listed some talking points that you might address
1) you have your standard insurance.. if you wreck the car they cover it.. problem is the rental place said they charge you for each day the car your damaged is out of service.. this could be 20 days of $40-$60 per day..
2) have you guys ever used you supplemental credit card supplement after damaging a car? I would guess this covers your deductible on you standard insurance.. does it cover lost days of use that the rental car company charges you?
3) I got the coverage this time.. because Texas has been having a lot of hail storms and that sounds like an "instant headache"
4) I worked in this industry when I got out of college.. they teach you to never offer the "extra coverage" to "risky people" (I assume they now have credit score access..)
