Two straight bad losses to SJU and GT. Still 20-7 and should get a bid. They need Booth and Paschall to step up now. Reality says I'm still not ready to start the FIRE JAY campaign....:D

Tends to happen to teams who lose 4 guys who went in first 33 NBA picks. Jay didn't expect Spellman and Divincenzo to leaver after last year. Caught with his pants down roster wise. Price you pay for a national championship unless you go hard after 1 and dones like Duke and Kentucky.

Jay has a loaded class coming in next year. Give him a couple of years and he will have that group competing again for titles.

Nice post on VU’s future. Does this mean you’ve given up on the Wildcats for this year?

This is definitely a rebuild year. I think Jay has job for life. 2 NCs can build that kind of cushion for a coach. I don’t see them going past the first weekend this year.

You guys know most programs across the country can’t win 75% of their games in ANY year.....let alone in a rebuilding year!

‘Nova probably won’t be dancing in April THIS year.....but they may step on a few toes in March!

You nailed it.

I don’t think he was too surprised to lose spellman, not the same for divincenzo.

Shows how good of a coach Jay is in reality. This team losing all those players and as green as it was at the beginning of the year, to have them with this record is impressive. Anyone who saw that opening game where Michigan just cut them apart like a surgeon would have to be impressed with where they are now. They have some very good young players that will be very good and as stated their recruiting class is top notch coming in next year. Good to see Jay getting the accolades he deserves.

He’s a wonderful coach, no question. I’m Georgetown through and through, but have nothing but respect for Coach Wright.

Playing on the road in conference is tough for everybody. St John's and Georgetown aren't bad teams. Prior to losing 3 out of 4, they had won 11 straight and are still tied for the conference lead. Little stumble now, get things fixed and they'll be an awfully tough out for whoever has to play them in the tournament.

Good to see Georgetown and St. John's coming around with former players leading them back. Takes me back to the old Big East Battles seeing Ewing and Mullin. This conference could be very tough in a few years if these 2 continue bringing their alma maters back

Good to see their true freshmen starting to step up and shoot. They are getting the defensive switches and scheme's down, now it's time to look for your shot and have the confidence to take it. They are starting to get the confidence in what they are doing on both ends. They obviously were relying on Booth and Paschall a bunch the first half of the season to score. Now they are taking some of the load off them. I would not want to play 'Nova in the big dance. Between their coaching and when they are hitting 3's, I agree they will be a very tough out.

Losing Donte and Omari both was a killer. I am pretty pleased with how this team is developing. Phil and Eric have done a really great job of carrying the load - and now the younger players are gaining some confidence. Really please with Sadiq, Jermaine and Dhamir... Projected before last night as a 4 seed - don't know about that. They could slip to an 8 or 9. Doesn't really matter though. Who wants to see Jay Wright's team come mid-March?

Yes. McClung is coming into his own and Akinjo plays tough and fearless. Fun team.

Before last night, highest % of shots from 3-pt range of any major school @ something over 50%.
Could use Cole Sweider (sp) --fr who can shot from range - given reliance on the 2 srs.
If winning 20 games becomes your floor, .........
I went to Penn -Villanova game (Penn grad), absolutely wonderful game (said as a Penn fan whose team had not beaten Villanova for 2 lifetimes).

Away from that (I live 3 miles from their campus) I am amazed at the extent of the construction project on Lancaster Pike ( creating their college village like Notre dame did circa 8 years ago). Going to look great IMO.

If the 2018-19 Villanova men’s basketball team is average, then please let the PSU men’s basketball team be average.

I hate losing back to back vs unranked, but I can't get too upset. I was very impressed with Gtown after we beat them in Philadelphia. It was hard for me to believe that they were .500 or a little under at the time - there is a lot of talent on that team and everybody knew Pat would be an excellent coach.

Top ten class coming in, 2 5-stars and 2 4-stars. All are ESPN Top 100 players. Add to Samuels, DCR and Bey along with Quin and that is a (on paper) Final Four roster.

I have some minor gripes how Jay is handling the PT, I'd like to see a lot less Cremo and Gillespie and a lot more Quinerly, but believe it or not, maybe I'll defer to Jay.

I'd love to get to the Big East finals and make the second weekend in the NCAA. That ain't bad for a rebuilding year. @artsandletters
