Glazer reporting Barkley traded to the Cards. I frankly don't care much either way. If you are down to the 3rd stringer, you don't have much chance anyway.

I'm not sure how the would use Tebow in situations, unless they make him part of the active roster (which teams rarely do with the 3rd stringer). Perhaps Chip activates him for select games. Not sure who would be inactive though - a WR? DB?

Good. I've never understood how people can not like Tebow but actively root for people like Ray Lewis, Peterson, etc, etc, etc. I'm inclined to think Kelly will come up with plays to use Tebow - Bradford, Tebow, and Sproles all lined up in the backfield and they snap it to any one of them or something crazy like that. (I'm not saying it would work, but Kelly does think he's the smartest person in any room.)

Good for him. I'd like to see him succeed. Just leave the crocs at home.

Barkley is an example of a guy who stayed in college too long. Had he come out after his junior year reports are he would have been a first rounder. Waiting and playing his senior year he ended up as a fourth round pick; cost him millions. Tebow is a nice story though.

Every coach thinks they are the smartest in the room. It's ego and part of what got them there. Difference is that Chip Kelly is probably right.

Remember John Sciarra--ex UCLA QB who was a DB with the Birds? But they used him on goal line situations.

I live in the heart of Gator Country. Can't tell you how many people here are now following the Eagles.

At least I know, when I go out, the Eagles will be on the TV.

Chip Kelly has yet to prove that he's smarter than many in the NFL, let alone the smartest coach in the league. Two 10-6 seasons, no playoff wins, not to mention the very not smart playing of all starters to win the meaningless last game of last season and cost 6 or 7 draft pick positions. I listen to Philly sports talk every day and the amount of hype surrounding Kelly is nowhere near warranted at this juncture. I hope the Eagles have a great year, but oy, it's insane how the tide has turned from doom and gloom with injury prone Bradford when they didn't get Mariota to Super Bowl talk, all because of a few pre-season games that count for exactly nothing.

It had nothing to do with waiting and playing his senior year and everything to do with getting injured and having his shoulder separated. Since then he has had neither the same zip on the ball nor accuracy. Not dissimilar to Zack Mills in that regard.

I am very happy with their draft, aren't you? You play to win the game

I have yet to see a season of Eagles football that didn't start this way. Every year they are going to the Super Bowl and are easily winning their division. The trophy cabinet remains empty.

I'm not sure how that's germane to the discussion, but I'm neutral with this year's Eagles' draft at this point, seeing as none of them have played in a regular season NFL game yet. Kelly didn't address the need on the oline (releasing Mathis doesn't seem like a smart move to me), and there's no denying it was his plan B draft.

I don't think that's the case, and I'd say after the draft it was probably about a 40-60 split on positive to negative from the fanbase, and the best case scenario I heard any fans make was a 1st round playoff win. Fast forward through a few pre-season games and I'd say it's now about 80-20 positive to negative, with many fans thinking Super Bowl.

First year was after a 4-12 season so it was a big deal just getting to the playoffs. Last year he lost his starter and still won 10 games even with the backup leaking oil. It's early but he has done a good job and now he is starting to play with a lot of the guys he picked himself.

how much does any 3rd team QB see the field. Kelly may use him in some exotic play, but the problem with that strategy is like when we used to put our QB at WR. it rarely fooled anyone but ourselves. Tebow actually is closest to the QB model that fits Kelly. His high $$$ QB Bradford is fragile. it may get weird during the year if Bradford does not deliver.

the only issue I have with Tebow as 3rd QB is that he winds up being a constant media distraction that can create a wedge in the team. As long as he can be the 3rd team QB and stay in the shadows (like other 3rd teamers) and not speak up = that is great. If he becomes a media distraction, the entire team gets hurt. I have always thought Tebow actually brings this on himself.

Kelly has done a good job, but ultimately hasn't proven or won anything. Despite that, I've heard many Philly fans comparing him to Bill Belichick. As you said, he's now playing with a lot of guys he picked himself, so now the pressure will really be on him. Anything short of a division win and at least 1 playoff win will be a disappointment this season.

Your real problem is this. " I listen to Philly sports talk every day" Those mopes have an agenda which is to get you to call them, listen to them and generally move the Arbitron meter.

Tebow would be useful in short yardage, goal line, 2 point conversion situations. He should not be in if you are thinking about throwing the ball more than five yards downfield.

He had won 20 games in the nfl in his first two years. I'd say that is winning something. Do you know how many first year nfl coaches have failed to do that? Andy Reid won four games with the same roster the prior year

Green and white glasses wearing Eagles fans love to point to 20 games in Kelly's 1st 2 seasons as proof of his greatness, but the reality is that it's not that impressive. Harbaugh won 27 games in his first two years, and he's now back in college. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Belichick got fired from his first head coaching job with the Browns. He really reached genius status when Tom Brady began winning games for him.

Just for the record, Lion Fan96, which NFL team has your allegiance?

It has nothing to do with my eagle fandom. I was a fan of Kelly at Oregon. His time there factors into my assessment.
Harbaugh is a great coach. The reason he is no longer with SF has to do with personality not coaching ability.

I'm inclined to think it's not just personality, but also 8-8 and missing the playoffs, among other things. Regardless, the fact is that he still won 27 games in his first 2 seasons (7 more than Kelly) and is no longer in the NFL.

The Eagles suck !!

Now that I said that, watch them win a Super Bowl this year.

Now kiss my feet because I JUST MADE THIS HAPPEN !!

That's the NFL. Every coach will get fired. At some point.

Matt McGloin is better. Guy he beat out is now the target for kelly (since te-bow been te-boned). and all the folks who exulted in chip's decision to keep TB now have that 'oopsie' thing to contend with.
