just curious what everyone is watching over the summer.

got bored with my Netflix queue, mostly because I didn't want to start my epic "mad men" journey as of yet. Saw "Wayward Pines" on HULU (first 4 episodes) and decided to check them out. I had a little hesitation since it is produced by M Night Shamalamadingdong . . . granted, most of it is derivative of other stories (Under the Dome, LOST, etc), and the "Twin Peaks" influence is evident, but I'll be damned if I am NOT enjoying the hell out of this show.

I won't give away any plot details, except to say Matt Dillon plays a Secret Service agent sent to investigate the disappearance of 2 other agents, including one with whom he had an affair (Carla Gugino). He gets into an accident and wakes up in a hospital in the town of Wayward Pines. and it gets creepy from there.

One benefit of the show is that there are some decent actors and actresses in supporting roles. Juliette Lewis, Terrence Howard, Melissa Leo, Toby Jones . . . all seem to embrace their dark and disturbing roles. I think the show airs on FOX at 9 on Thursdays, episode 5 is up next.

I'm watching Bloodlines on Netflix. Great show about a disfucntional wealthy old money type family living in Islamorada,Florida. Sissy Spacek is the grandmother character but her husband is patriarch with a hatred towards one of his several grown kids, all of whom are living there. There are several overlapping plot lines involving some serious crime, infidlity, and greed.

I just started my Mad Men marathon last week when I flew to Germany
Have 2 episodes left in Season 3. Season 3 definitely seems weaker than 1 and 2.

Hey, you and I are big amigos on this board and, having read the books, I thought I'd tell you all the plot twists in advance to save you time from having to actually watch the shows. So . . . nah, I won't do that.

Except.

David Pilcher.
